iPhone 3G Problems

Do you think the iPhone 3G is awesome? Well, I can't say I totally disagree, but it seems there are a lot of problems with it, some real, some that...

Do you think the iPhone 3G is awesome? Well, I can't say I totally disagree, but it seems there are a lot of problems with it, some real, some that may appear in time, while others are nothing more than fiction at this time. While the dock issue is a real one, there are plenty of things to think about, as we're going to see right away, but before anything else, let's see what's up with that dock, shall we?
According to an Apple Store employee, quoted by intomobile your old iPhone dock won't be able to host the new iPhone 3G. As the guy said, "the iPhone 3G is shaped differently and doesn’t fit in the same dock," so you can leave all hope. The worst thing is that all audio systems featuring universal docks build so far will also be incompatible with the latest iPhone! What a pity...:dft011:wicked_smile
Well, at least let's hope someone will manage to come up with a "iPhone dock to iPhone 3G dock converter," so those audio systems I mentioned above won't instantly become obsolete as soon as their owners will upgrade to the iPhone 3G, but this is not all - now, let's see what else can be bad about the iPhone 3G!

Another possible issue with the iPhone 3G is long term cost. To make a longer story short, during the first two years, you'll have to pay $160 more because the pricier data plan for the iPhone 3G, compared to the old iPhone.

The iPhone 3G's camera still doesn't have a flash, and there are no replaceable batteries for it, either.

This should be everything I can think of now..

I'm looking to upgrade my Harmon Kardon Soundsticks. I picked up the Bose Companion 5 set. Looks great with my Mac, but not sure if I'm in love with the sound. I've read all the stuff slamming Bose for being all marketing, less product. I was swayed by all the positive reviews on Apple.com. Before my return window is up, I'm looking to consider other options.

I've seen people talk up Audioengine A5, Swan. Also considering the Logitech Z-2300, Z-5500.

What are you using with your computer? Good for music, movies?

hi.. im having problems with my i phone. i have a virgin account and have found the service from them pretty pathetic. i have a 1gb data limit per month. for the first couple of months on this plan i had no problems staying within this limit. a few months back i apparantly used 1.4gb of internet data, even although i did not feel that i used this amount and constantly called the virgin 'team' in india that i was not using this amount and it was still increasing on a daily basis. i got a bill for 1300 dollars and had no joy when contacting virgin because they said i had used this amount and to check my breakdown of my bill. i eventually paid as i was getting nowhere with them and when i checked my bill it did look like i was using it. i put it down to the fact that maybe it was connecting by mistake. i increaed my data limit to 2gb to prevent this happening again. this month 4 days before my bill i checked my internet usage and it was at 92% i stopped using it.... even though i didnt feel i had used this amount of internet... but it still continued to climb to 98%. i then took my sim out the phone and put it into another phone. the internet usage went to 101 which i accepted because i understand that it can take a few days to catch up online. it stayed at 101 for 3 days. i then put it back in my phone and for 8 hours it climbed to 105!! i now have a bill for 470 dollars which i have not used again. i now realise there must b something wrong with phone so i took it into virgin shop but the guy could not c anything that would b causing it too upload. in my usage it says there is upload. any ideas? i dont want to pay this bill!! thanks. audrey :(

Jail Breaking Question

I am considering buying a 3GS iphone and I think I would want / need to jailbreak it because I run more than 1 application at a time and unfortunately that cannot be done without jail breaking.

I have some experience using XDA Developer's ROMs on Windows Mobile phones. Typically I find the cooked roms to be slower than the standard rom that came with the phone - though maybe it had nice features, it is typically full of bugs as well.

Does this happen with Jailbreaking? Does the iphone run slower once broken or does it have bugs and need to be rebooted frequently?

What disadvantages exist to jailbreaking an iphone? Can the iphone be restored to "unbroken" easily enough?

There isn't much discussion on web applications?
I've been lurking for a while and I'm sort of curious. I read about multiple apps from the store all the time, but not much on web apps.
Should I not bother making them anymore?
(for a quick list for this discussion I'm hoping for Seego.com and Taptu both have lists. Seego being the one I like more. The Apple listings are useless really. They have the worst listings for web apps on Apple. too broad in it's descriptions).

So, what is the deal? Apple can be hard to deal with, and web development is pretty good now. I've seen lots of great web apps and quite a few "not so great" full apps. So, why the almost complete dismissal i've seen? Or, am I mistaken and simply not seeing it?

I have a windows mobile and I am ready to move to a new phone. I am currently debating between the new Android phones coming out next Year (Sony Erikson X10 or HTC Dragon) and the iPhone 3Gs.

The iPhone does not allow multiple applications to be run at the same time, is that correct? How do you guys deal with that? For example, I have an email with an address or a website with an address and I want to copy the address to my google maps so I have navigation to that address. Once I get an idea how long it will take to get there, I will then call the person or reply to the email with a duration. How do you manage that when only 1 app is open?

Another thing I typically do is read an email with stock trades and then I launch the stock trading program via the app or the web to execute the trades. After one trade, I will typically need to flip back and forth to get the details for the second trade, and then the 3rd, etc.

Besides the lack of running multiple apps at once, I am pretty keen to get an iPhone. Is there any advice or experience you can share to help me with this problem?

Thanks!
