Hello there,

I don't live in the USA and I don't want a contract with AT&T, but I understand that in order to buy it I need a contract. Thing is, I heard there is an ETF (early termination fee) which costs $175. I can only cancel the contract after one month of buying the phone. So if I buy a refurbished 16GB white iPhone 3GS (which costs $150), how much do I need to pay for the plan, etc.? The cheapest plan, of course, since I will be terminating the contract as soon as possible, probably in 30 days but I'll be using the phone with another carrier way before that.

So if I am going to pay $150 for the phone plus $70 more for the Plan, etc. which means $220 then I will pay that and in 30 days cancel the contract for $175 and I will have the phone? Which means $220 + $175 = $395 will be the TOTAL price for an iPhone 3GS that will be mine forever after canceling the contract? Of course I am just assuming that you pay only $70 and that the ETF actually costs $175 (that's what it cost for a 3G back then so I don't know how much it costs now).

Can anyone give me feedback on this? Thank you very much and sorry for making it long.
