Question Videos on iPhone

I've done a search of the forums regarding transferring video to iPhone - am I correct in assuming this can't be done unless the phone's JB'd? I have a collection of vids in my media library - I have them recoded to mp4 and put on my iPod, so can always return to that if need be. However, I just thought it'd be nice to have my favourite stuff in one place, so to speak.

Thanks in advance for any help

Yes, you can do it. It isn't very hard and involves using Itunes and then changing the file extention name of the video. It's been many months since I have done it and I can't remember how exactly, but I got the info off the internet so it's around somewhere!

Good luck!

cheers, I'll see what I come up with. If I can do it w/out a JB - so much the better till I get the hang of using iPhone - pity there's no native vidcam though, but I can live w/out that for the moment

Edited to add - I have Mpeg Streamclip which converts movies to mp4 format which is suitable for iPod/iPhone. However, my main problem is the actual transfer as iTunes doesn't appear to want to do it

You can definitely do it using iTunes and a third party software (generally free). If you are using a PC the one that I've found to work well is Videora but I understand that there are other programs available as well. You don't need to have a Jailbreak to do it.

I've used it on both my iPhone 3G and on my iPod Touch 2G and it works great. You just need to find the video files on your computer, convert them using the software and copy them to a folder that you can sync with iTunes. They will be reduced in size, copied to the iPhone and available in iTunes link under video.

It's OK, I reckon I've sorted it !! I dragged the files to the phone itself and not the 'movies' folder - and it worked.
