Default video converter for Mac OS X, any suggetions?

could anyone expert at mac shareware, i am going to buy a converter for my MacBOOK Air, how about Handbrake, iSquint? some of said that they are free and good, some of sait that like "The reason you can't buy it is because it, like iSqunt, is free! Handbrake has the ability to rip a DVD to a plethora of formats including the near universal mp4. It is also extremely simple to use; just insert the DVD, open the program, and rip away." i am trying a one called 4media video converter for mac, actually i do not care the money, but the quality and stability, are there anyone familiar with these? any suggestion? thanks

Hanbrake, iSquint and Visual Hub for the Mac go without saying. I use handbrake and visual hub for encoding all of my ripped movies. Though Handbrake does have a ripping engine, it may not be up to the task of ripping some of the recent Sony/Disney productions.

Another free option is MPEG Streamclip.
