Default Video converter?

Can anyone please recommend a simple video converter I can use to quickly convert to a playable format on the iPhone with right dimensions, quality, etc. etc.?

Will be converting from mkv/avi/mpg (mkv mostly)

thanks!

If you're on a Mac then you can use Handbrake with relative ease. If you're on a PC then the easiest thing for you to use will be Videora.

Posting recommendations of free software is fine, but frequent linking to paid software is not.
