i tried to connect my iphone 2 my tv with an old av cable that came with my dad's old ipod photo. only sound came from the tv. i live in the us and i have the signal set to NSTC (or whatever its called) but it doesn't work. apple says that i should use a component cable. is there any other way you know of with an av cable.
Does the old cable connect to the bottom or top of the iPhone?
It it's the top, then the reason it doesn't work is that there is no video connection in the jack.
If it connects to the bottom, then the only explaination that I can think of is that it's missing the required smart chip to use with the iphone.

i put the iphone on its dock and plugged it into the wall. Then i connected the dock to tv w/ an AV cable.
So did it work with the old cable through the input jack in the back?
