decreasing size of ripped DVD to iphone

is it possible to reduce how much a movie takes up in the iphone? i use cucusoft to convert dvd's to the iphone but it takes almost if not 1g. just curious to know if it was possible to make them smaller? it would be nice to be able to have more than 2 movies on my phone.

yes, just use a capable DVD ripping tool like handbrake and tell it how big to make your movie.
the smaller the movie the lower the quality of course.
