I use Cucusoft and I don't have to change any setting at all and it convert a movie in 1/2 time of the movie.
But isn't the speed of the convert related to the speed of the Computer and not the speed of the program? So a faster PC will obviously RIP a DVD faster then a slow one.

I use Handbrake on my MacBook and it takes under a hour (I think as I don't remember the last time I used it) I also see the size to be under 600MB, doesn't look quite as good as leaving it full size, but nothing looks as good as watching a movie on the old HD TV, so I don't mind so much.

Its in the phone. Worked great to watch 2 movies on a plane from Boston to San Fran.

I think they have a windows version but I've heard it doesnt work as well. I use my Mac to sync with the iPhone so i havent tried it yet.
this is REALLY helpful since i want sereniy on my iphone.
are you SURE...the size 480x200 will work, seems too big...i just want it to be perfect. sorry.

I am like you I have literally converted one movie 5 times trying to find the right aspect ratio. After multiple tries I think I have got it right. If my calculator is telling the truth then for a 2.35 movie, it would be 640x272 or 480x204. I am hoping I can get this right finally because every time my movie comes out stretched or shrunk vertically. Uggh!

That's what happens when you want to be cheap and not spend $30 on a movie converter. I use Cucusoft, and I don't have any problem at all. I put my DVD in, open it, click convert and that's it; 30 minutes later I have my movie ready to be exported to iTunes.

I was literally one click away from buying I think its called aimersoft but I just couldn't convince myself to buy it. I'm just hesitant that maybe the program won't do everything I need. So what is the best program for under $30 on windows?

I use handbrake to rip the dvd and put it on the desktop and then Visual Hub to install it into itunes and then iPhone. The reason I do this is that the HB does a great job of ripping down to 700mb and then VH formats it for itunes and iphone. The size is about 370mb so I have a dozen videos on my iphone.
