Default SDK/Developers

Okay - so I'm signed up as a developer. Trying to download the SDK now - the Apple site is really being hammered.

I've got a tiny bit of programming knowledge - so I'm going to start off simple.

I will feedback in this thread.

EDIT: Still can't get my damn hands on it. Their site is being completely overwhelmed.

Any other developers got any...revelations?

Congratz. Let us know how it goes. I'm sure Apple is getting killed with attempted downloads, so try again later.

Anybody can download it for free. You just need to pay 99 bucks to distribute your apps.

Wow - I just went to http://developer.apple.com/iphone/program (SDK download location) and Safari told me that the connection had dropped because the server was busy. I've never gotten this message - Apple's site is always lightening fast for me. They're getting pounded.

Yup. Been trying for the last hour.

I'm planning on getting the SDK - and if I get to grips with it, buying the distribution shizzle.

However it means I need to have a Mac - and I don't I'm sorely tempted to buy a Macbook now.

EDIT:
You have GOT TO BE JOKING!
" The iPhone Developer Program will initially be available to a limited number of developers in the U.S. and will expand to other countries in the coming months."

Gives me time to get a Macbook I guess.

Any other developers got their hands on it then?

In the words of Michael Rose, developer.apple.com is getting hammered like a steel drum at Carnival in Rio. Apparently, the download is 2.1 GB (!!!) and I'm still having no luck with it. I can't get the video of the event to play either.

Awesome. Let me know what it is like.

Yeah. Things should have calmed down by the end of tomorrow I guess. 2.1GB! Jesus.

Here's a download of it for anybody that can't get the page to load or doesn't want to register as a developer yet. I'd like confirmation that it's legit before I go downloading it; I just want to play around before I register.
