Good idea?

Straight to the point...i will explain the concept of the app without giving away the industry it is targeting.

The app is a networking based app that registers its users in categories.

For instance, for sake of this let say the app is a dating app only cos dating sites are a form of networking due to users have submit details that then become searchable data. This is really the core of this app. The ability for people to register and then they will then become listed and seachable on the fly.

The user most have the ability to upload images from thier iPhones and in that process they have the option to categorize that image.

Lets say its a photo of a car, then they have the check box option for 'car'. There will be limited options within that section.

Example again, if I wanted to do a search for a particular type of person in the army, I want the option to search lets say within ARMY, NAVY, COAST GUARD, AIR FORCE or MARINE CORPS and if I select Marine, it will then go to the listed Marines etc.

Once I get to one I want to look at, it displays that Marines details and at the bottom I can then call, SMS or email that person. A back button also to go back to the search results or where I was before would be handy.

I don't want the user to have to go to an external site to register or anything.
What say you?

Haha, well putting your email address and a little google search kind of makes it obvious the industry and app you are looking for

But anyway to answer you question, it wouldn't be too difficult to do. Basically you'd need a way to store the photos associated with a person and give them the ability to tag the photos and make the tags searchable. You wouldn't necessarily have to make the tags a selection but you could. Doesn't sound like it would be too difficult at all.

I am an apple developer and could most likely do an app like this. Unfortunately I wouldn't even have time to think about it for another month at the earliest. Football season is in full swing and I'm not done coaching until the middle of November.

so as this is a seriuos proposal what do I néed to do to get someone to seriously take up this idea?

First thing I'd do is write up a few design ideas and maybe some screen mockups. Then get with a developer explain your entire idea to him and let him / her go to town.
