Somehow Ive talked myself into getting a MacBook Pro. I think Im gonna wait till September though, I hear they are coming out with the new ones then.
Until then Ill just keep reading tutorials on Objective-C and Cocoa and hopefully by the time I get my Mac Ill have a pretty good understanding of the basics Ill just dive right in.

Default PowerPC or Intel?

Does the SDK work on a PowerPC Mac? I read somewhere that it had to be an Intlo mac running Leopard; I've seen some PowerPC macs with Leopard on eBay? Any thoughts if those would be ok to run the iPhone SDK?

1. Install OS X on your PC.
2. Download/install the SDK.

You're done.

No PowerPC. You will need an Intel mac.

The way I see it, macs are expensive because they only sell them with the latest chips and technology. But on the Windows side you have companies that use much older technology and chips. So you can save money by buying used, there are several retailers that specialize in refurb and used macs. And at least they are built well, I bought a few over the years and have been happy with it. Just google it.

I wish I had the time. I still have full intentions of developing apps, just a matter of time I guess.

The only help I can give you is to tell you to sign up with Apple for the dev program. They have so much fricken info online I was shocked. You should be able to get a good start there.

Make sure you buy a Mac with an Intel processor or you will NOT be able to run the iPhone SDK/Xcode. I bought a Mac mini 1.83ghz core duo with 2gig ram for $400 and it runs like a champ!
