A great idea to save battery

This app would sell so well and save battery x10. We need an app to auto turn off 3G when data is not in use and thats it. It would save battery so much when our iPhone is in sleep mode or when we are just listening to iPod.

Is it really that difficult to remember to shut 3G off manually? Seems like it would take more battery power to run the app in the background to check to see if data is in use than to go into settings to shut it down on your own.

The better question is, why

is included with the phone when it was released. Its an

fix considering how bad the battery life is.

Only way this would be supported is if apple made it themselves. This cannot be done with the SDK as you are not allowed to run background processes, which is what it would require for this to be made.
