Official BMW Bluetooth and iPhone Compatibility Discussion

Was very skeptical that it would work with my 2007 X5. To my surprise, the Bluetooth Hands-Free integrated with flying colors. It pulls the address book and everything. I know that one some other websites, it integrates with the 3-series as well. I'm going to assume that it will work with most of the newer BMWs with Bluetooth.

works with my 2006 330i as well. handsfree, address book, etc.

the only thing that doesn't seem to work is the signal strength display. with my moto Q, the car could actually monitor my signal strength. it showed a little bar icon near the time. don't get that with the iphone, otherwise everything else seems to work the same, although i haven't really tested it that much.

    2006 330i

Hmmm, I do get the signal strength. Maybe you can check with BMW and see if they have an update to iDrive system.

It works fine with my BMW 535xi but I notice that it comes and goes. After a while I don’t see it on my nav screen - if I wake the phone it comes back. Has anyone else had this problem or heard about a fix?

    750i iPod connection

I have a factory installed iPod cable. Connected the iPhone and everything operates perfectly. Songs, artists, playlists are displayed on the iDrive screen. The bluetooth feature of the phone continues to operate while the iPod plays music. When a call is received the song fades while the call is in progress. You will get the "device not supported..." screen on the iPhone but all works well.

Thanks - the only problem I have with my BMW is that when I plug it in - the bluetooth works, the ipod works but it won’t charge the phone. Did you check to see if your phone was charging? And you have no problem with it going on and off?

no idrive here, just the standard pro-audio setup. i will have to mess with it some more. i don't think the signal indicator ever worked with my treo650 either, but when i got a moto Q it started working. might not work with the iphone. i'll have to go dig around on e90post and see what others are saying
