Default Can the iPhone now play music through Bluetooth?

I want to know if I should get a bluetooth headset for my phone cause I think I heard that the new update made it so that music can now be played on a bluetooth headset, just wondering if someone could verify it with me.

Yes, the 3G and 3GS support A2DP stereo music over bluetooth. The V1, for whatever reason, does not.

...Same reason it doesn't support MMS?

The first gen is probably capable, it's just apple acting the way they always do... they want everyone to upgrade to the newest thing, they prevent the buyer from having these things, then pretty much force them to update.

Well, does anyone know if A2DP actually requires a different bluetooth antenna configuration?

iPhone 3G Bluetooth 2.0 +

iPhone 3GS Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR

I couldn't find anything on the v1. So maybe it's the Bluetooth 2.0 thingy. I'll do a little more searching, but I still think it should work, as phones before the v1 were A2DP capable.

EDIT: if anyone doesn't know what 'EDR' stands for it's- Enhanced Data Rate

Be aware though of a couple of limitations (which I hope get fixed).

There is a delay in the processing of the audio which makes BT headsets no good for video.

Additionally, there is no volume control for the BT A2DP, so you'll need to ensure you have a headset that supports BT volume natively, rather than rely on adjusting it from the iPhone.

Im able to control volume using my iphone. When i hit the volume buttons on the left, instead of the "volume" box showing, I see "Bluetooth Volume"

Which apps does it do that in?

I've never seen that. All i get is the option to use the speaker or the Bluetooth - no volume control.

When music is playing, from the ipod app. Just adjust the volume with the buttons on the side.. The pic below shows the screen but i can only find a pic when on the phone with bluetooth, not music, the screen looks the same though
