I would love more info on how this is done. I tried it with my LG Verizon phone. It found the iPhone, but wanted a passkey. Where do I find passkey?

Then iPhone wanted PIN. Where do I find this? Thanks for any help. I got this LG since it had room for 1000 contacts and it is almost full.

Learn so much here on EI.

Thanks, Jim

The passkey/word that works with most Bluetooth is four zeros (0000). You can, on most devices, later configure a different passkey/word. The initial passkey/word on a device is four zeros (0000). This also works for Bluetooth headset pairing...M

Jim,
Read my post at the bottom of page 1 in this thread. The iPhone DOES NOT support Bluetooth data transfer. This was confirmed by Apple's support team when I called them on Saturday. The Bluetooth only supports headsets (non stereo) and handsfree Bluetooth car kits. Unless someone has figured out a hack for this problem. You cannot transfer your data to or from the iPhone via Bluetooth. You can put your contacts in Outlook Express and sync them via iTunes. Another option is, take your old phone (even if not an AT&T phone) to an AT&T store and they will attempt to tranfer your contacts for you. Good Luck...M

Default Thanks!

OK, I guess I was mislead by the poster above who said he moved his contacts from one phone to the iphone with bluetooth. I will see if AT&T can help me. My Outlook program is on the fritz and I can't find my original disk.

Jim

Default Why?

If you transfer iTunes file with DRM it will not play unless the iPhone its transfered to has been registered to your computer (or account), if you transfer file with no DRM it will play (iTune sells these now at a premium, you can copy these anyway you like) - you can do this via computer without BT and an iPhone so why block it via BT - Apple can easily block just the music part like they have attempted to on iPod and say they tried...

I don’t think they have to disable anything on the phone when it comes to such transfers. They “found the way” to disable users to share purchased music on itunes , so what’s the deal? What bothers me that they advertise iphone being a “revolutionary phone” in the meantime it’s missing standard futures that other phones come with, just like mms. You can not send it, and when received you have to logon to some website, I found it very annoying. Not sure about you, but besides some extra futures I feel like owning a verizon phone again.

I think alot of people are rethinking their purchase now that the "Newness" has worn off. The bluetooth problem, no mms, no infared port, the battery life and the 2 year contract with AT&T (when you got NOTHING free or discounted). Plus the fact that we were ALL (if not already) FORCED to become an AT&T customer. All of this to be beta testers at the charge of 600.00. I wonder why I keep feeling like Apple forgot to kiss me..M

Default Bluetooth would be crazy when it has WIFI

I guess bluetooth transferring would make sense for pushing data from one phone to another, but for syncing it would be a whole lot better and faster if it did so via WIFI.

Unless you were completely re-writing most of what was on your iPhone (multiple GBs), WIFI would be plenty fast for syncing contacts, calenders, photos and music.

WIFI sync is at the top of my list for features that I would like.

With iTunes' ringtones update coming soon, we won't need to transfer ringtones with our friends, we'll already have the best ones.
