Default Bluetooth Delay?

I have a Motorola H700 headset and it paired fine. My problem is when a call comes in and I press the button on my phone to answer I hear nothing for a good 10 seconds then suddenly I hear the parties voice? Strange delay - anyone else having this issue or know a way to correct? Thanks

Same with my Jabra BT - seems like the 'handshake' to transfer the call to the headset takes a while longer than my old T-Mobile MDA used to do.

Not sure what the caller hears while all that is going on.....

My Motorola HF850 car kit does the same thing.

That doesn't happen with my LG HBM-730 (my favorite earpiece so far) but it does with my Motorola H9 (a new tiny earpiece that looks great in theory because it's so small, has great sound but keeps falling out of my ear) It's frustrating for the caller when this happens because they know you've answered but you're not there yet. I think I'm going to return the H9. My only issue with the LG is that the ring sound is very quiet in the earpiece and I tend to miss calls. I'm hoping for the auto-answer feature to come in the update, that's how I had it set on my treo so I didn't have to touch my earpiece to answer when I have contaminated gloves on. (I go through A LOT of gloves when I have to take one off to answer the phone!)

I've replaced the Jabra I was using with a new Jawbone headset.

The delay is gone!

Jawbone receives the call instantly and is a great headset for audio quality.

Glad I made the change

I have a Moto HS820 and am having this delay problem as well. After I hit the button on the headset it takes a few seconds before I hear a beep from my headset indicating the call is active. I have gotten accustomed to waiting until I hear the beep before I even say 'hello'. I am also wondering what the caller is hearing during this delay? Next time I make it to the Apple store I will most likely be picking up the new iPhone headset!

Anyone noticed improvements with these issues since the 1.0.1 update? I haven't tried it yet.

1.0.1 update did not fix it. Also, I called Apple Support regarding my non-working Handsfree kit (Motorola HF850) which does work with EVERY OTHER Bluetooth phone I've tried, and has been widely reported online as not working only with the iPhone, and they basically told me tough crap. It's not their product so they can't do anything about it not working. In a way I understand that but it is clearly an iPhone issue and not an issue with the kit as all all the other phones seem to work fine with it.

The Motorola headsets and carkits are having a delay issue with opening the "SCO link (Audio link)" with the iPhone. The SCO link should open once a call is placed or recieved, sadly the phone isn't properly updating the headset as to the call status. The iPhone use the Bluetooth handsfree profile version 1.5, most older Motorola's use version 1.0.

Don't get this confused with the Bluetooth core versions 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 2.0 and the soon to be 2.1

The Handsfree profile is a sub profile that is used in the core spec. Such as GAP, BPP, BIP, OBEX, PIM, OBEX, FTP, DUN and A2DP.

The Apple Bluetooth headset (HFP 1.5) has some backwards compatibility issues with older phones as well (HFP 1.0).

This isn't technically a failure of the phone. It's the Bluetooth chipset which is used in the phone/headset. Just be glad we aren't all having eSCO issues like the new PDA/Smartphone's were having, 4 firmware updates later, what a headache.

On a side note, those of you having this issue with the Motorola's, did you buy your units in the store or online. About 8 months ago there was a huge issue with Motorola headsets (HS850, H500, H700 and some car kits) that were duped by some company in Taiwan or Thailand.

I have a H700 and my audio delay is only 2-3 seconds.

Is the ear peice on and already paired when the call comes in?
