Apple iPhone BT headset and 1.1.1
Ok, I am one of those early adopters that got a store credit, and after much thought and deliberation, I bought the Apple iPhone BT Headset. I loved the design, the talk time and standby and extrodinary for it's size, and it was MADE FOR the iPhone. Besides, there was absolutely nothing else in the apple store that I wanted or needed.
So I test it out. Line of sight was pretty good, but if something "broke the line" then static could be heard. The bigger the obsticle, the louder the static -to the point of disconnection. That Sucked. It was better than the Samsung WEP410 I got off the internet for a ridiculously low price (definitely got what I paid for), but not by that much.
I still use the Iphone Headset for when I am in the car. I'm one of those people that believe if you're going to be on the phone driving, do it hands-free. (Down here around Atlanta, the really horrible driver in front of you that is driving at slow and irratic speeds, and making dangerous and sudden lane changes, generally has a cell phone pressed to her ear.)
Since I got the headset, I upgraded to Firmware 1.1.1. I never thought to check to see if the firmware update addressed any BT issues, but apparently it did. I just tested it and the static I would get from simple things like MY ARM being in the way is gone. The range is still a bit weak, but the sound is very good and is MUCH clearer than ever before. In fact, I have only had to repeat myself while talking on it once, and that was because I was next to an 18 wheeler on the highway.
So, just a long-winded heads-up for everyone out there that has reported BT problems -especially with the iPhone BT Headset, my update to the 1.1.1 firmware seems to have almost eliminated the problems of static. You might want to test yours (if you are now at 1.1.1, or after you update) and see if the same can be said for you.
