2005 BMW 545i Bluetooth connectivity issue

I have a 2005 BMW 545i. When I tried to pair the iPhone it took a long time and then the calls kept dropping or the quality was very bad when the call actually did connect. I do not know if this is a Bluetooth versioning issue or what? Any insights will be appreciated. Thanks.

I get that too in my M5.

Read in the other thread that it might help if you turn off wifi.
