Could someone just explain some thing to me, i need some help.
OK, heres whats going on, i recently purchased an iphone from a friend at school. It's running 2.2, its jailbroken and unlocked.
MY current provider is ATandT: my current plan is: unlimted text and family plan (2400 minutes or something).
I put the sim card into teh phone, and everything is working, i used a profile to stop edge, however i was wondering, is att going to somehow charge me extra? im really dredding my next phone bill, can someone explain?
The only reason i posted this was because the last post wasnt clear. Will or will they not charge me? some were saying u can use it on any neetwork, some were saying that they have teh right to place data plans, whats going on?
The AT&T terms and conditions state that if you use an iPhone on their network you must have the appropriate data plan. If they determine you are using an iPhone without the data plan they will send you text messages telling you to add it, and eventually they may add it for you. I have read that with an unlocked phone you can avoid the data plan, but really have no idea how reliable that is.
If your provider is AT&T, just call and add on the $30 data plan and you wont HAVE to worry about getting a large bill. I just dont understand why people get an internet phone and try to beat the system by not getting internet. More than likely, dont be suprised if you get a $1,000+ bill next month.
Per conditions upon purchase, the $30.00 data is required (for 3G). I don't recommend living dangerously without the data plan, because sometimes accidents may happen and then suddenly you find yourself with data usage charges. All users of the 3G iPhone who do not have the $30.00 data plan will receive messages (as noted above) to add the plan, and eventually there will be audits done that will add the plan, maybe even without notice, because it is a requirement.
