Default Best way of the two to upgrade for cheaper?

Ok guys i dont qualify for an upgrade yet, i have 3 months until i do. I sold my nokia n95 so im gonna get a 3g s. Im thinking of two options go in and pay the early termination fee, my buddy said at 21 months it should be around 70 bucks, start a new line and get the new phone cost so ill get out around 270 close to 300 anyways. Or could i add another line and drop mine down to a really low cost plan? 3 months shouldnt amount to much if its cheap.

My buddy that used to work at ATT said that you could open a new account the same day you cancel so that shouldnt be a problem but i dont know if they have changed that since? Anybody have an opinion on what i should do? Just seeing if anyone has done the same thing im thinking and which one would come out cheapest thanks.

Just wait it out or suck it up and pay the extra $200 for the early upgrade. Cancelling, opening new, porting out and in is a real pain in the arse.
