AT&T iPhone Help

Okay, so at the moment i am under two year contract with AT&T[cingular] with my motorola razr, and that plan will not end until october of next year, i was wondering, can i upgrade to the iphone and jus transfer my number from the razr to the iphone at no charge?

or am i forced to cancel my current contract with them to get the iphone?
Or just bascially "renew" my contract at no charge?

I heard AT&T was looping around the early upgrade charge jus for the iphone.

yeah when you activate your phone it will ask you if you already are an ATT customer and when you enter your info they will transfer your old # with no charge
