hmmm so seems like you can do prepay then just not add funds and your iphone will be activated so you can use safari with wifi, ipod features etc... without having to pay for a plan course you will hve to use wifi for everything but this is great for people that just want a iphone for its other features

Can anyone confirm this? It seems like a way for non-US users to use the iPhone other than a phone?

The way GoPhones work is you pay that charge in advance every month, without the ability to go over. It is not like the prepaid phones where you buy minutes and they're good for three months. You are automatically charged the MONTHLY rate, and dollar values accumulate, but when you cancel, they disappear. It's not a pay $20 now and it's good forever kind of thing.

They only rollover as long as you keep paying the monthly fee. When you tell cingular to stop charging you, that's it.

Yeah I chose to go with the gophone plan instead of giving AT&T 2years, and it's working out real good. I still have my tmobile account so everyone still contacts me through that phone, so i'm not wasting minutes on my iphone. The Gophone plan worked out better than i thought it would.

What I meant is that for those who are outside the US, and therefore do not have AT&T, if they want to use the iPhone as an expensive iPod and internet device with WiFi like me, we can enter all zeros for the SSN, then choose prepaid, and just not fund the account.

As a result, the activation is completed, we can use the iPhone as iPod and internet device (with WiFi), but no account to cancel because we have not funded it.

    Correct?

Or do I still need to fund the account and supply the information (bank, credit card, etc) and then cancel the prepaid?

How does one cancel the prepaid anyway?
