So, notice that most of the people on the forums are guys ...This one is for us girls.
For Me, I love my iPhone! It lets me be more creative than a regular phone. I change my wallpaper as often as a change my outfit throughout the day...which is atleast 3 times, unless I know I love what I'm wearing at the beginning of the day. (note: I work 2 jobs almost daily) and I know I love to text message so having it "chat" form makes things sooo much easier. I don't have to exit out and into an in-box if I missed a message from that person. oh, and when I am having a conversation with someone via text message I don't have the disruption of a new message from a new contact. LOVE'N it!!! Only downfall is not being able to send or receive photos via text, but hey, email is right there too! My problem is, the boyfriend won't tell me his email address for me to send him my new photos...boooo! mainly cuz he doesn't "do" email...so why did he get a Blackberry?
...anyway...
LADIES, What do you have to say about YOUR iPhone?

Boys will be boys, unfortunately.
I stood in line on iDay for mine (actually I sat on the floor watching "Hunt for Red October" on my macbook). When I got to the front of the line, I actually grabbed the bag out of the poor guy's hands and broke the speed limit getting home to activate it. It hasn't left my side since. It does everything I expected it to do and more. I'm not a texter but the email function has been a real help. Now I don't have to check it unless I hear that little ding. I love my iPhone.

I've had mine since the first day... I love it! I also change my wallpapers daily. I also change the ring tone several times a week.
Most of the people who notice and comment about my phone are men... interesting! If I wasn't already married, it might be a good conversation starter. smile!
I've found the Apple earbuds are WAAY to big. They leave painful dents in my ears. I'm waiting for Apple (or some third party) to come out with insert phones with the toggle button. Until then, I'll just have to take advil every time I listen with the earphones. <sigh>

I felt the same way! You might try these. They fit over the Apple supplied earbuds and feel waaaay better in my ears.

I'm a girl too! Woo!
It's weird...it seems like the majority of people who have high-tech phones are guys. That's just not right. Before this I had a Motorola Q, and it was the same way. 90% of the members of the forum I went to were guys. :(
I mainly love my iPhone because I'm really active online, and it makes it really easy for me to browse the internet.

I started this thread thinking that there ARE girls somewhere in this forum...but where are they? SO, TA-DAH!
anyhoot, I never really knew about forums until I came across a mac forum last summer when I didn't know how to set up bluetooth on my computer and how to link it to my razr. OLD stuff now. I'm now on a Honda-tech forum to get help with my car, I'm not a ricer, BUT I do love my honda!
then I had questions about my iphone, and being that I'm the only one i know who has it, I decided once again to search for help on a iPhone forum and here we all are! :2cool:

I'm here too. I drove 8 hours and waited 11 hours to get my iPhone on day 1. I'm a technophile so there was never any question about whether I was getting an iPhone on opening day or not.
I use my iPhone every day, most for telephone, calendar and email.

LADIES...I know there are new ones around now that the price has dropped, boyfriends and husbands are finally talked into buying the iPhone for ya! just kidding around. My boyfriend paid for mine, boy was that difficult. ANYWAY, how is everyone liking their phones so far. Anyone enjoying the new iTunes option on phone? I like it, BUT...I don't know my info of my iTunes on my computer...don't have an account, haven't bought anything from it it.
and when are we going to be able to send photos via text...I NEED that feature. Boyfriend's blackberry doesn't have camera so, i'd like to text them to him. e-mail is too much work.
suggestions?
Hey all -- Okay, I'm coming out! LOL! I've been a long time lurker --- as you can see by the amount of posts that I have - I was just reading the threads without signing up for membership, then one day I just said, lemme just do this and actually sign up on EIP!
I find this forum to be soooo helpful with so many knowledgeable folks around here. Just like you, I LOVE MY IPHONE!!!! I use it for everything, from waking me up with the alarm, email, web, sms, iPod, etc. etc. I have always been the techie gal amongst my peers and they always know I'd jump on new tech (heck, come to think of it, my BlackJack is really not that old) well anyway, thanks to this forum and the wonderful minds --- I've modded my iPhone and I LOVE IT! I did not "downgrade" to 1.1.1 - and probably never will unless the apps can be supported, which may never be ---
I sync my music and pictures through my laptop XP (I hate iTunes music management - so I keep my music on my folders and just drag and drop what I want into iTunes) and sync my contacts and calendar using my iBook
Anyway, I know I rambled on so "Let's hear it for the iPhone!!"

I was at the Apple store 3 days after the release just to play with the iphones not really thinking they had any in stock. Then when I was asking questions about the iphone the employee told me he had one in stock if I was interested so that is how I got my iphone. Ever since I have been Loving it and can't wait to get more features. I did modd my iphone but restored it just before the last release so that I could get the itunes store.

I use my iPhone mostly for phone, calendar and keeping pigs. But I ALS love to websurf anywhere! I agree there are more guys on EIP or at least more guys than girls who post. There is an app available on Installer called "PigPen". It creates a virtual pig pen that appears real to pigs, hence keeping them together.

This thread is completely useless. Flame me if you want, but of course the forum will be a male majority. In fact, statistics point out that the main high tech gadget/computer users are 79 % male. You don't need to make a thread just to point out that you're a woman using an iPhone. It's as if you need special attention drawn to you just because you're a woman who uses a hight tech gadget. Why start a new thread ? I'm sure no one really cares what gender or sex you are; we are all just happy that we own the best phone in the world, the iPhone.
Your gender or sex shouldn't matter, as we shoud all just be a happy iPhone using, loving, etc. community. This thread (as well as the gentleman thread) or completely discriminate and should be locked.
Don't be an attention monger.

Wow what a way to make new friends with the first post. Did you really have to state all that? Couldn't you have just NOT CLICKED on this thread? Couldn't you have just joined a DIFFERENT iPhone forum and saved this one from the aggravation of having a simple minded person bombard us with useless comments? I think you might be able to answer those questions yourself if you give it enough thought.

No, I didn't have to state that, however, I did join this forum, and felt the opportunity to express my opinion, which I did. You feel the need to define my ilk as simple-minded ? I'm sure you don't even know me in real life, likewise, one cannot judge a book by it's cover, and, needless to say, a poster by his posts. I feel, in my honest opinion, that one has the right to express his opinion on a public internet message board, not without consequence, but still the opinion is simply what it is, a statement of the person's thought about a subject.
You may feel a certain validity as seeing my comment as useless, yet, others may feel that it is, in fact, a comment worth supporting. Also, no one said that you must support my opinion. It is within your every right to disagree, but some may not. Why not just make an "iPhone user" thread ? Wouldn't it serve the same purpose instead of being discriminate ?
Shall we now make a thread stating "Gay Thread" or "Lesbian Thread" ? No ? You disagree ? Or should we perhaps make a thread for all transvestites, hermaphrodites, etc. ?
Understand by the comment above, that this thread and the "Gentleman thread" are both discriminate. You are leaving certain people out of the equation, and that is discriminatory. Reevaluate your state of thought.

In what way is a thread that talks about being a female user and expressing her differences from the average male user being discriminate? Who is to say that the females that DID respond to the thread didn't have the idea in mind to develop a friendship with another female user so that they can share their iPhone stories together?
For instance, what if more female users get their hair caught in the iPhone's bezel than male users? How is a male user going to relate to that and offer a remedy to the situation? I guess they're not, now are they? However, if another female user were to chime in and state how she kept her hair from catching in the iPhone maybe with the use of a hair tie then this thread is ABSOLUTELY worth while.
You state that someone should be able to express their opinion on a forum without consequence yet your first post ever on this forum was questioning someone else's opinion by stating that the thread should be locked? That's a lot of contradictions for someone's first post.
Also, if you were to SEARCH, then you might realize that there are plenty of other "iPhone User Threads" so maybe you should read the forum rules and regulations again before posting again.

You realize that in this day and age, that it isn't only women who have long hair. Plenty of male users in this forum can express that, and they can also advise as to what to do if your hair is caught in the bezel.
I digress, then, your point is valid about the contradiction, however, why not just have a general post about hairs and bezels? In fact, I believe, as I have been lurking in this forum for quite a while, that it was posted in a general thread (about the hair catching in the bezel) earlier.
Also, even though I have posted, and expressed my opinion, in no shape or form was I demanding that this thread be locked. I expressed that it should be locked, however, that was an opinionated statement. The mod(s) of this forum don't have to follow suit with my statement. They are able to form their own opinions and judge and decide.
It is really of no concern to me whether or not this thread is locked, however, I do advocate it.

I got my IPhone during the first weekend but the 8GB were gone by Sunday so I got the 4GB. I would love to have the 8GB but I'll make do with what I have :-).
I work in an IT department but so far I'm the only one to get an IPhone though they all love it and want to use it and see what it can do.
I use it all the time - text, email, wifi, IPod are the most frequent apps. I didn't hack mine though I was tempted to.

I am absolutely amazed at the fact that both men AND women can have long hair these days and I think you for enlightening me on that matter. While both men and women have long hair these days I still don't see many men wearing around hair ties or other accessories to keep their hair in place, thus the average male user with long hair is AGAIN different than the average female user with long hair. Also, I am sure that you have now noticed that the statement I made was as an example, just one example out of many that I could have used. Continuing on, if you look back to that "other" hair catching thread you refer to then you will actually notice that I did in fact respond in that thread with my own hair catching issues.
Now to refer back to your other thread, if anyone wanted to make a "Gay/Lesbian with iPhone" thread then they have every right to do so. If they wish to meet other Gay or Lesbian users and interact with each other then someone such as yourself is not going to stop them. Forums can also be used as a means of social networking even if you don't want them to be used as such.
It seems as if the only person here being discriminatory and hypocritical is you.

you are taking things WAY too literally. first of all, binks made up a general topic about girls getting their hair caught in the bezel just to prove a point, even though there had been a previous topic about it(in which was mainly males forum users).
also i do not think that the "ladies thread" was created in any way to exclude ANYONE, but instead, created to discuss the topics that may effect the female population more than the male.
and as creator of the "gentlemen's thread", i hereby state that i created this thread just to tease/poke fun of the girls thread. i was just goofing around and i wanted to see if i could get a little fun going around the forums. as a male, i was not offended that she decided to create a topic with the intent of talking about things that may or may not effect women more than men. in fact, i found it rather interesting to see a women's perspective on the iPhone their comments/concerns.
i think that you are just stirring up a bunch of $h!7 for no reason, but like you mentioned earliar, you are allowed to express these opinions. either way writing all this has irritated me so i'm sorry if i did not spell check.

It wasn't my intention to irritate, although now that you have explained a different side of the story, which I apologize for not analyzing before, I do see a certain validity concerning these threads. I retract my earlier statements. I may also just be cruising for a bruising at this time, because I drank too much beer the other day, and my mind still isn't in its rightful state. Sorry to troll, as some may call it, and I hope that all is forgiven. It was only my intention to hope that some were not excluded from certain threads.
I see, now, as it all makes sense to me. This thread is intended for concerns women have with their iPhone, but it also does not exclude others from replying. At first, I thought the designated intention of this thread was "girls only ! no guys", however, I see that I was incorrect in that assumption. Please forgive me for my oversight.
Although, I have one question to ask. Women, who generally speaking have longer hair than those of the opposite sex, get their hair caught in the bezel, but what would be male concerns with the bezel ? Perhaps, if your beard is too long then it may get caught in the bezel ?

Excellent. I honestly think I'm still sobering up from the Oktoberfest beer on Saturday. I'm surprised that I was able to navigate my car to work. Yes, if you feel I am using an ostentatious vocabulary, you are correct in that respect. I usually limit my vocabulary in regular speech (mostly because I don't really care to use something so verbose and confusing to certain individuals who are vocabulary challenged, plus the fact that my normal speech pattern doesn't include that type of vocabulary [most likely not you, especially if you are inclined to post on a specialized forum such as this]), however, I believe the drunken stupor I have been stuck in since this Saturday has laxed a part of my brain that cannot control what I type, which is resulting in me sounding really strange at the current moment.
I wonder if I should inebriate myself when writing/typing school papers, as they may sound more intelligent. I usually stress to write better and at a higher vocabulary level than normal colloquial or conversational speech when typing a paper, but I think it doesn't come accross as easily as it is now.
As for everything being chill, that is excellent; I didn't mean to come off as a pompous ass in my first post.

I am a recent iphone owner and a female. I love the idea for this thread! As a female computer teacher I know first hand how women are out numbered when it comes to gadgets.
Yeah! I'm typing this from my iPhone, I think I'm getting the hang of this keyboard.

Sweetness. How long ago did you get your iPhone? Also, those are some pretty good typing skills. Haha, thank you Apple for the correction software :laugh2:. I would be dead without it.

Welcome. We really like guys are girls here. Equally well. I didn't mod my phone either!

So, how does everyone use the keyboard? I use my right middle finger...I've tried using both hands and I cannot type a single word without out messing it up.
also good news today. I just got the job at the apple store where I'm located. I'm SUPER excited. The manager seemed excited to. :laugh2:YIPPIE!!!

Congrats to you. One favor though, your choice of color font (this fuschia thing you got going) is killing me; especially on a white background.
Again..congrats.

...hey! I thought we had a deal!, you get new news and pm me with it before anyone else finds out...=P
Silly question, but do they train you on macs and how they work if you don't have any previous experience with them? I've actually thought about working at my local apple store when the time is right but figured since I've never used a mac I wouldn't qualify for the job.
I know itd be better if I had exp. But wondering if there is training....

I could be wrong, but I'd imagine prior use of a Mac would be a requirement for working at an Apple store.

Congrats on the job!

Well my old plan was the same exact amount with unlimited texting and whatever so it didn't change at all. I'm just trying to get some money for a new iPhone, since I did manage to get the 100 dollar store credit.

SO, its been a very long time. I tried deleting my account however, can't figure out how so whatever.
I love my job! It's great! I can't wait to see some new stuff come in though. I had some things wrong with my phone and working there makes it easier to swap it out. =)
HOLIDAY SUCKS though. It's sooo busy! but I'm ok at my job.
I have a 12" PowerBook so learning to use macs is easy. I don't know a lot of DETAIL about the speeds and such but I'm learning. I have a .mac account which is AWESOME btw.

Dang, I'm glad that you're bringing it back old school! I am also very happy that you're enjoying your job and do not envy anyone working in retail right now. I work retail as well and always request off the month of December so that I don't have to fight with the mobs (instead I can be a part of them :laugh2:).

Haha well I've been at the same store for nearly 3 years and I'm really good friends with all of the managers so THANKFULLY I get December off. Also, my Bday is the day after Christmas so I try and use that angle to make it seem like I need the whole month off. :2cool: Also, the place I work at is Abercrombie and Fitch so it's not the most difficult of jobs.

Hey, you're back!
Glad to hear you got the job. I worked at an Apple store for a little over a year, and I can quite easily say it was one of the best experiences if my life. I had to quit due to this being my last year of High School, but I plan to head over to Cupertino after I graduate from Notre Dame.
BTW - I see you changed your avatar.. Hmm.. I wonder why. :tounge:
