Realizing that this may be a "well DUH" forehead-slapper of a tip, but I just found this out for myself...:
You can send AT&T users (i.e. iPhone...) text messages using email: Just send an email to '1234567890@mobile.mycingular.com' (no tic-marks) and the body of the email will be sent as a text message to the person at 123-456-7890. Yes, the address is "cingular", but it works for AT&T folk. It's nice for times when you have email, but not a cell phone and want to text someone.

Not sure if it works for phone #s outside of the US, though since it is a legacy Cingular 'feature'.

1) open a photo on your iPhone
2) click on the send photo link (bottom left hand icon)
3) select to email the photo
4) using the table below, enter the phone number of the person you want to send to, followed by the email prefix for their provider

If I wanted to send the photo to 561-456-1230
(replace the 10 digit number with the cell phone your sending the photo to:
For Cingular/AT&T : 5614561230@txt.att.net (5614561230@mms.att.net)

All of the prefixes seem to work except the AT&T one. My wife has a iphone as well and when I tried to send a photo to her, it didn't go through. The prefix did work with my friend that has a verizon phone though. Any ideas?

I just sent a txt via email to my sister using the address:

XXXXXXXXXX@txt.att.net

It looks like they've changed it since the merger.

Question. Me and my friend did a lil' test and he has the Verizon NV. First off I know how to send pics(MMS)to anyone as long as I know what carrier they have. For AT&T customers we can send pics(via email) to each other all day long but when my friend that has the Verizon NV tries to send me a pic I don't get it. He has to send it to my regular email addy(which I get on my iPhone)to view the pics. Is there a way yet to do this? TIA! Sorry if I hijacked.

for text yournumber@txt.att.net

for pix or video

yournumber@mms.att.net

even better if you are on ATT get yourself a media-ID,
whatever you want .... like "DanJah1"

then your addys above will replace yournumber by your media-ID

e.g. DanJah1@mms.att.net !!!:2cool:

Hey there. I realize I am a little late, but, I was wondering;
in regards to the sending of an email to someone's iphone text
how do they "text" back to your email?
Thanks
