Are there any guys out there who are having a little trouble with their wives/girlfriends and their iPhones?

For instance, last night my wife said that I was "obsessed" with my iPhone.

LOL! That is exactly why I got my wife an iphone too! I even modded her iphone with the pink gunmetal version and she loves it. I try to keep her up to date with things that are "bugs" and various cool new things that are happening, whether she cares to know or not. I give her an hour or so a week of time with her to go over some feature in the iphone. Anyway, she is not currently complaining that I spend all my free time on these silly forums and hacking the iphone!

Why do you guys assume that "women" are not as geeky as men.

My man is the one who's telling me to stop hacking.

LOL...

Considering I don't have a wife or girlfriend... I HAVE A HUSBAND... it's not a problem. But my hubby knows I'm a geek, so it's no big deal. He benefits greatly from my electronics addiction (hence the 56" TV in our bedroom - LOL)

My wife couldn't care less about anything electronic. It's so sad.

She makes fun of me. . . sniff. . .sniff, I come here to find peace and acceptance. . .

My girlfriend is okay with me being on the forums ALL the time. Especially since her sister just had a baby boy, that is all she has done lately. So the forums have kept me from going insane. LoL!!!

Hahaha it was a great time though she thinks Id take the phone...I doubt that. But we had a good laugh and I'm glad I dont have to make that decision:wink:

Yeah, my girlfriend is definitely jealous of the attention my iPhone gets. I told her she can choose b/w something shiny to go on her finger, or something shiny to put her fingers on...I'm pretty sure I know what she'll choose and I do not think she'll go for the cheaper option made by Apple. Damn you Tiffany & Co!

Lol yeah, my girlfriend gets pissed. If we are sitting on the couch watching TV and the show doesn't really interest me, I just pull out my iPhone. She says I'm obsessed with my iPhone, I just see it as getting my money's worth.

The other day, she wanted to go to a certain restaurant. But we had no idea how to get there. As we weren't very familiar with the city we were going to, So without hesitation, I brought out my iPhone and Google mapped it.

So then after our meal, we were kinda full. So we decided to sit there for a bit before we left. So OF COURSE I brought out my iPhone. And again she started saying how I was so obsessed with my iPhone. So I just told her, look if it wasn't for my LOVELY iPhone we wouldn't be eating here right now. So then she shut up :) She could care less about electronics as well.

I'm obsessed with my iPhone. It goes with me everywhere and I show it to everyone. I have 10 computers, including one in my bathroom.
Last time I checked, I still had 2 X chromosomes, which makes me a girl, woman, girlfriend and mother.

Stop being so chauvinistic. I was also the best in math at school.

I've been with my girl for a little over a year now and she's been with me through two phones. She almost dumped me over the Moto Q, and now that I have the iPhone I fear the wedding plans might get canceled. :p

Well, my wife thinks I'm obsessed with my sidekick3 and rolls her eyes everytime I whip it out...hehe....wait till I get the iphone!

She's a hardcore reader, sometimes a book a day, so whenever she says something about my hobby (yes I call it a hobby now) I just tell her "you read books non-stop, I surf the web, deal with it."

Wow....are you a carpenter? You hit that nail squarely on the head!! At first my wife thought I was spending a little too much time with my phone. Once she saw the pictures of our newly born baby on the phone, she liked that, and kind of cooled off with the phone. She even changed her mind about her pink razr phone and now wants an iphone *gulp* Even though she has toned down on the phone, she still gives me a look when I'm on this forum or checking out iPhone stuff!!!

Iphone or girlfriend/wife: one of thems got to go! HELLLLP!!!

Oh if they only understood . . .

When I use my ipod I make sure there's always music on there that she would also like as well as my son. You know, to play in the car on trips and stuff.

With the iphone I will do similar things. Music, pictures of our child to show off, etc... you have to get them somewhat interested, then its somewhat more accepting.

You guys are all hopeless, except for an occasional one (like my iPhone-toting boyfriend). You despise/make fun of those low tech women who behave like stereotypes, but it's what you go out with/marry anyway. What does it say about you?
I know, you're afraid of the ones who have a brain. You like to think you're the dominating half of the couple. Nothing much has changed since the cave ages. It must be in the genes, and the real reason why humanity is on a self destruct path (as usual, but now we have the power to "do" it. Nuke them all by the remote touch of an iPhone?).
Grow up. Evolve while we still have time.

Okay, first off, I love my girlfriend of two years very much BUT......

Shes says things like, "Why can't you pay my cab fare home from work on Friday nights? You have a $600 "phone"! (she's an evening radio DJ on Friday nights)

I just bought a $2300+ MacBook Pro about three months ago, but this crap never came up before I bought my iPhone. Hmm. :gasp:

I bought my iPhone on iDay and she's really never touched it until today when we were having lunch at a cafe, I pointed out that they had free wifi, and she wanted to check her email.

Even that turned into a chore because she has long fingernails.

Women are NEVER satisified. If she's happy with her old T-Mobile RAZR, that's fine with me. Heck, wait until we're lost, there's no gas station, and Google maps saves our ass....oh, she'll see :laugh2:

I hope you're joking.

And if you're not.

First off, My wife doesn't give a damn about tech and gadgets, I do.

I don't make fun of her.

And am I afraid of one with a brain? Yea, that's why I married a 10+ year CPA accountant with a masters.

She works just as hard if not harder than I and I definately do not portray or act like this "dominating, woman fix my dinner, get me a beer, I'm going to play golf with the fellas while you watch the kids" attitude you seem to think every man is preprogrammed with.

I've been married to my wife for 8+ years and have loved every day spent with her so far and plan on being with her for the rest of my life, unless she "understands" my obsession with gadgets, then I drop her like a sack of taters, yea right.

So don't act like you know me and you're gonna use my post as some sexist/guys are all pigs flame.

My wife has accused me of being like a little kid with all my little toys. But it sounds like to me that you, in fact, are the one who needs to do some growin up.

And if this was just you tryin to make a funny: ha... ha ha... ha

Cool! That's a pretty good place to play. As this area grows it will become better, they are always looking for ways.

Plus they are (someday) building "Corridor Y" sometime soon. It will connect 459 in Trussville to 65 in Gardendale (Mt. Olive to be more exact), when it begins it will get out house so we will have to find somewhere else to live.

Long story just to say that the Morris area is fixing to EXPLODE!!! Which means good things for the golf course!

My wife says the greatest cell phone she's ever had is the razr I bought her a couple of years ago (when they first came out).

We moved to Nextel/Sprint and it took her FOREVER to get used to her new (non-tech) phone!

She would NEVER get used to the iPhone.

I can see this so easily.... Ari from Entourage... holding the iPhone in one hand and his wife in the other dangling precariously over a cliff overlooking the beach. The phone rings and a picture of Lloyd comes up on the iPhone with a custom ringtone that has Lloyd saying, "Ari it's Vince answer your phone!" Ari looks quickly at his wife, she screams "Ari don't you DARE answer that iPhone!" To which Ari deftly replies... "It'll only take a second." da wifey pretty much ignores my toys. at our advanced age she knows its hopeless to change me.

Now there are two things that bug the hell out of her. One at night its really bright (don't tell her there is a briteness control) when she's trying to go to sleep and I'm still reading some message board but the worst is when the godawful alarm goes in the middle of the bed at 0515 :) :) I love it -- one of the few I can't sleep thru and then its really bad when I have hit snooze but not gone back to sleep, got up, hit the shower and then it goes off ---- and she doesn't know how to work it to turn it of :) :) :)

I sent her her first text message last week on her reg phone -- she had to get her young niece to show her how to check it :)

But since she retired I have gotten her off PCs and into my Mac world so we're making progress.

One of the reasons I did not hesitate to buy her one is she just gets technology and mechanical things that break all stereotypes of woman and technology. One more reason Im crazy about her.

I knew getting her an iPhone would not be a waste of a trinket but something she would actually really use and understand better than most people.

My (now ex) girlfriend was very supportive of my obsession, which existed even before iDay. She was so supportive she even waited in line with me for about, what? 9 hours? Wow. What a great girlfriend she was. I miss her. :( LOL But I have my iPhone to keep me company now. LOL

When we were dating though I was pretty careful not to pull the phone out too much. It was great for finding locations to eat and she adored that the iPhone could be useful for things like that. But I was always cognizant of the danger of making her feel jealous of my iPhone. I think surfing the internet while you are out eating a one on one dinner with your sweetheart is quite rude. I wouldn’t want to be with a girl who would LET me get away with that.

Later on after the breakup, sure enough, she let it out that it seemed to her that I was on the phone too much, and when I was at her apartment she felt that I was using her computer for iPhone stuff too. And this was with me making an effort to limit my iPhone activity!

In public, there have been several occasions that I did NOT pull my phone out when I would have otherwise just because of not wanting to seem like I was obsessed with it, or that I was trying to show off.

A couple of years ago I subscribed to a couple of personals websites like Match.com. I haven't really visited them much lately and they generally get filtered by Gmail. I just recently started to check my mail on the phone and this week I just happened upon one of the matchmaking emails, so I clicked on one of the purdy girls. You know just to see how the iPhone would work. Honest! LOL Silly me, I left the girl’s profile open in Safari, then went off to dance class.

And wouldn’t you know it I met a cute girl at the studio. We got to talking and a question in the conversation came up that could be easily solved with a visit to the web. Well I was a bit hesitant to pull it out on account of not wanting to look like I was showing off. But that’s not what I should have been afraid of. You can imagine my embarrassment when I opened Safari and she saw this picture of a sexy looking girl in some provocative pose. I wonder if she thought it was a pr0n website. Things aren’t really working that well with this new girl for some reason now.

Stupid iPhone. Might have cost me my dreamgirl. :p

LOL

This is precisely the reason my husband and I each got an iPhone. If only one of us had gotten one, then jealousy would have ensued. When the Razrs came out, we each got one. When the Pearls came out, we each got one. So obviously, we each had to get the iPhones. We're both geeky at heart. ie..it's Friday night, and we're sitting in front of the TV, on our respective couches, with our laptops in our laps in silence...and couldn't be happier.
