I know it dosn't have a touchscreen, but if done right, this will actually be quite a nice "little" trinket.

Sony will transform its popular PlayStation Portable (PSP) into a mobile phone and internet appliance.

eh psp is not so great. All it says is that it is updating features not creating a new phone.

At the very least it will have semi-decent games.

Yeah SEMI decent lol. They are just adding phone features to the psp.

I know psp has some cool features, but does it really have the following like other products to really make it with the other "smart phones"?

just because it can make a call in my opinion dosnt make it a phone. My computer can make a phone call and I still call it my computer.

I doubt it, since I live in Australia I won't be seeing the iPhone until next year!

Could go either way but as wjp said, I would bet you could have the iPhone before that. This just states that they reached a deal, meaning it hasn't even been officially unveiled yet, much less really developed or manufactured. It will be a long time before this is released, if it does end up being released at all.

I guess it'll have to be a new version of the PSP. They couldn't add those features without redoing the hardware could they?

Yes, it looks to be a whole new version of the PSP. With the current hardware, I don't think a phone would be an option. The only other option, though, would be to make an attachment.

I think you're right. They'll probably come out with a new version of PSP and hope it helps the sales. I know they've been very disappointed in the movie sales.
