The iPhone was advertized as being compatible and able to sync with Outlook. It does not. All who purchased under this misconception should be entitled to a full refund and cancellation of the AT&T 2 year contract.

Let the class action begin!

we have every right to complain. I went beyond the two week warranty assuming wonderful Apple would make it work.
The phone IS elegant but not nearly as useful as Microsoft Mobile. I need productivity not pretty pictures.

You get 14 days to see if it works for "you"...if it doesn't, return it, pay the 10% restocking fee which you knew about from the beginning and move on. No sense complaining about it. If it works for YOU great. That is exactly how I intend to deal with it. I should have it to test within two weeks -- I hope.

Apple's hype is rotten...the phone is NOT the greatest thing since canned beer, or sliced bread.
It's a fancy iPod not a business tool.

Wow....you iPod poodle heads really can’t take a little constructive criticism.
The phone does not work as advertized and folks need to know that.
I am preparing a list of the (non)functionality of this devise so potential buyers know what they are getting into...stay tuned and save the nasty blasts for somebody else.

I have to say,
I've never seen so much anger over a single item, at this magnitude, for a very long time. Why do we have to scream at each other. If you like your iPhone great. I do, but I have the naysayers. I just respond with "I like it, so I don't particularly need to hear 2 hours of complaints" and those who don't like it, that's fine. Doesn't mean you have to push people who like it to the other side. Not to say you can't voice concerns. Constructive criticism is perfectly acceptable. I just don't understand why there is so much snarling. Those who like it don't need to take personal offense if someone doesn't like the iPhone, I know I don't. Not everyone is going to like everything that you like. And for those who don't like the iPhone, that's ok too, just don't start a campaign to drive people away. It's just disheartening to see a material object that is SUPPOSED to make people happy through ownership spawn such anger. It's a phone, a gadget, something fun and interesting.
In the eternal words of my mother- "If you don't like it and it's not making you happy, return it. In the end the loss you take doing so will never surpass the dejection for it causing anguish".

Ok, I'm done. I'm sure I'm going to get some wicked backlash, but I said what I said, fire away.

My iPhone DID sync with Outlook 2003; then I upgraded to Vista and 2007 and nothing works. I'm going to call support tonight to see if it can be resolved.

I actually advised my boss (the owner of the company I work for) not to buy an iPhone, but to keep his Blackberry. I told him that his Blackberry was better suited to the business world right now.

Don't get me wrong; I love my iPhone! :laugh2:

I'm sorry, can you show me one ad or official statement from Apple that said it was a business tool?

You're right, it's a fancy iPod with a phone and web browser. That was obvious from day one. You had 14 days to figure this out and return it, you passed.

it would sync your contacts and calendar either, right?
I'm really not looking to argue...I'd like to get the thing to work and I'll suffer without all that Windows Mobile has to offer.

I’m syncing on a laptop with Vista Ultimate and Outlook 2007.
Sheila at Apple tech support walked me through the process: Go to this link for the article:
Link: http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n305409 (http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n305409)
1st thing to check is for USB conflicts....if you have a camera or printer connected via a USB port that may be the problem. So remove those 1st to see if that’s an issue then follow the instructions at the above link. Mostly you have to uninstall ALL Apple programs....I had 4 on my computer. The Remove Apple from the Program folder, then reinstall iTunes.
Admittedly the iPhone is not a business tool and does not come close to the functionality of Mobile 6 but if it can sync the Outlook calendar and contacts I can live with it.

If it was a business tool, then Apple would have brought it to Coporate America instead of the private consumer. Not sure what you read or where you read it, but I did my research, and knew long in advance that it was a Internet/text/email/phone with touch screen interaction and a full function iPod w/video. In other words, an internet multi-media comunication tool. That's all I every expected and got exactly that.
Now, I "could" ***** about no mms, java, flash, or ability to directly add/remove programs, but those features will come with time.
If you were expecting a blackberry, you got the wrong fruit, this is an Apple.

Before I got a Mac, I was using a Windows XP PC to sync with and it worked flawlessly with Outlook. That's how I got everything transferred to my Mac when I bought it.

Usually when people have a problem with Windows and the iPhone, it is because they are using Vista which is one of the worst bug ridden versions to date. Even some of Microsofts own programs don't work with Vista. You can't blame the phone for that. Outlook will sync perfectly with the iPhone under XP and with the Mac version.

The iPhone is still amazing over a month later, loving it!

Umm...you'll have to speak for yourself--there are TONS of people having many problems syncing the iPhone with Outlook's calendar--I'm one of them. It will not consistently sync with Outlook...and it's damned frustrating...business phone or not--when you say it will sync your Outlook contacts I expect it will...silly me...SYNC my Outlook contacts.

I've been syncing for the past 4 days without a hitch using Vista and 2007. If this continues and they come up with rhumored features I'll be a happy as Apple pie.

That sure is a big turn-around from: "The iPhone was advertized as being compatible and able to sync with Outlook. It does not. All who purchased under this misconception should be entitled to a full refund and cancellation of the AT&T 2 year contract.

Let the class action begin!"

Is that the way you handle all problems? Had you started a thread with the specifics of your problem you would have gotten dramatically different replies. The irony is that Apple, the company you recently wanted to sue, solved your problem.

Your gripe is NOT valid. My iPhone syncs with Outlook just fine - as it does for the majority of users, so your class action won't get far.

Instead of whining and threatening lawsuits try doing a search and you will find numerous posts that discuss ways to get Outlook and your iPhone to sync.

Most problems are caused by corrupted PST files. A good starting point would be to create a NEW Outlook data file and see if the sync problem is solved. If it works with a new file you can transfer your data from the old file to the new in less time than it takes to get a lawyer on the phone.....

This thread is becoming Epic.

Frank, I must place a "Thanks" on your original post, lord knows you could use one next to your name.

We're on page 4, and you continue to return to defend your claims/views/opinions and I tip my hat to that. It's not often you find a man of his word in this day and age.

So what's the deal folks? This dragon isn't going down without a fight. We've been here since 8-13-07 trying to down him and we keep wiping. I don't understand, we have healers, a good tank, and lots of DPS... Why hasn't Frank fallen yet? Don't you want his loot? I know for a FACT that he drops an iPhone every time...
