How Many Songs Is 4gb, And How Many Is 8gb

If my itunes is already setup to synch with my ipod how am I going to use the same itunes to synch with my iPhone? Furthermore - my itunes library is about 50gb - since the iPhone can only handle 8gb at best - how will I be able to use my current itunes library in coordination with my phone? I'm puzzled on this one?

By The Way,
How Many Songs Is 4gb, And How Many Is 8gb
i think the average is 4gb = 1,000 and 8gb = 2,000
feel free to correct me if i'm wrong.

you can start a playlist...label it iPhone (or whatever you want)...and when you get your iPhone you set the phone to download all songs from the "iphone" playlist and not from the entire library. hope this helps.

This may be a newb question but how do you get album art onto your itunes. i have 1,000's of songs but I don't think I have much of the album art. Any help would be great. Thanks

boy, i feel like a regular Genius Bar employee today.
this one's easy...when in itunes (you have to be online) just right click on any song in the album and the option that is third from the bottom says "get album artwork". it should work 90% of the time...if it doesn't 1 of two things is happening. either itunes doesn't have the album you're looking for, or your album title and artist doesn't match exactly what itunes has (capitalization, spelling, spacing etc.)
it's a bit tedious...but your cover flow will look so much better in the end.

I have yet to do much with iTunes, other than doing the "get album artwork" option. I don't know how I am going to do my contacts yet, and I know I don't want all of my iTunes songs on my iPhone but haven't made a playlist yet. When you plug it in does it automatically start syncing or can you manually drag all of the songs in? I hope you can do it manually so I don't have to make a playlist now.
Really to kill time I am focusing on other things, otherwise it is hard to wait. Other than that, just listening to music, going on this forum, watching the keynote, and living out my normal life otherwise.

Work, and WoW take up all my time.
But at work I browse this site.... heh..
I like to follow the 1Mb is 1minute of song play rule.
It's not exact, but it's close enough.
Songs vary in length, and sound quality, so if anyone ever tells you that "this thing holds 1,000 songs" they either don't know what they are talking about, or assume you don't.
I'll have to upload a picture of my current phone when I can, and show you what I have to deal with while waiting.
As far as screen scratching easily.. Jobs said that they made the screen out of something more scratch resistant than the iPod screen.
Just don't keep your phone in the same pocket you keep your keys in, or anything else, and you should be fine.

What I wish is you didn't have to necessarily have album info. My entire collection is made up of artist - song name and that's it. :( Wish they just guaged what you put on there and gave you SOME sort of cover that song is on.

They expect you to purchase your songs through iTunes or any other online provider. They come with all that info, and more, already set up for you.
Of course for people like us, that's hours of organizational fun to be had.
Luckily I've already done just about all of that over the years. ;D

I've still got dozens of tracks that I need to track down the album art. Might give me something to do while I'm waiting for the iPhone to go on sale.

Ugh, I don't like the prospects of finding all those albums. I wonder if a program exists that can poll databases to pull that great info down. Hell I'd be happy w/ 90% success.

If I get all the track data correct, then iTunes would probably recognize them. That's the bad thing about downloading songs from Limewire.:embarrassed:

Word on that one. :-\ It's kinda why I'm starting to buy more tracks...not many, but some. I've tried on some songs and artists and it's not pulling any via iTunes so I'll have to punch around and see what I can find that might find the best album info as possible.
I just need to get motivated. That's tough.

Is there a program out there that can scan Amazon for me? I'll do some research and report back findings.

That would be amazing if true.
I just like amazon because they have just about every album on there.
(Every one I've looked for)
And decently sized Album Art for all of them.

ok, now i have a question.
how do you get album artwork from amazon? do you save the picture and put it in a specific folder?
BoxKrait
05-22-2007, 07:06 PM
Save the picture to your desktop.
Right click on the music in iTunes and click the... Song Info? I think.
Find the blank square that has a checkbox next to it that says.. Artwork? I think.
Find the picture you saved.
And you are done.
Feel free to delete the one saved to the desktop.
At least that's how I do it.

I think apple should search by 'keyword' so if for instance they see
Artist album title And the format should be Title Album artist it shhould show suggestions, For instance "Did you mean you wanted 'blah blah bla'?

You can even drag and drop from a browsers into the file. I think I can deal w/ having album artwork and then work on the other info later on.
