Scratched film overlaying camera glass

Absolutely love the iPhone. Full of deficiencies but love it anyway.

The anti-reflective or anti-glare film on the glass covering the camera lens on the back of my iPhone has become quite scratched. I do not think it's the glass that's scratched, just the film overlaying the glass. It was quite predictable given that it is (foolishly) not recessed. So far, it's not messing up my photos but I expect it will get worse and ultimately may mess up my photos.

Anyone else have this issue? Your thoughts?

No lie. :laugh2: I still have a hard time dialing numbers and hitting the call button only to find I hit the contacts button instead. At first I thought it was a bug.

within a week mine was so far gone that the camera was unusable. the little lens over the cameras actual lens is plastic. so i removed it shhhhh..... now the camera takes better quality pics than it did when it was new. i do not recommend you remove yours unless you are willing to void the warranty on the phone however if you can live with that it makes the photos better than ever. i think apple should have recessed the cover to avoid the inevitable scratches or like some of my other phones not had a cover at all.

I have never liked any phone for its camera function. I had a sony ericsson w810 with a 2.0 mp camera, I never used it. if i want to take pictures i use my real digital camera. If i don't have my camera I just don't take a picture. In fact it does not even cross my mind to use the iphone as a camera.

I felt the same as you however you should give it a try. I am amazed (as well as others who view them) at how good they look.

Is there a film on the plastic or is it the plastic itself that is scratched? How were you able to remove it?
