Mail program just closes

I have my iPhone set to get my email from our exchange server over IMAP. I have it working for sending and receiving however from time to time when I touch on the mail icon in the iPhone it starts to open and then just closes.

The first time I fixed this I went into my photos and sent a photo to myself and after that it worked. A couple times since then it hasn't fixed it. The last time it fixed it by itself.

Has anyone else come across this?

I ended up deleting my email account on my iPhone and then re-entering the IMAP info. After that I was able to open email again. I think the cause was a setting on our exchange server.
