Sirius on Iphone

I guess since Sirius uses flash this will work when the Adobe Flash/Apple negotiations get pained out and put on the iPhone.

Somebody here tried the web browser and said that he gets all the way to the player screen but it shows blue instead of playing.

It should work sometime.

you need to find out how h getting around flash. With XM just go to the site and the link to listen to it on the net is in the upper right. The email address you used for you account is what you need. I tried XM today and ran into the flash issue. Once we get that resolved we are golden.

Cant be done yet!!! Believe me, i have tried every way possible, and there is nothing in place YET!! to listen to howard. I still carry around my stiletto, hopefully it wont be to long.

I downloaded sirius wm5 on my blackjack and that worked great!, but until the flash player comes out we will just have to suffer!

I'd like to know how to do that. I have XM radio.i talked to my friend he said it came pre- installed on his black jack he just had to activate through cingular/at&t.he said its about $4.00 a month more.

Thats correct, XM comes preinstalled on blackjack. Someone created a hacked app to get sirius on the blackjack, it worked great! you needed to be a subscriber and use your login to access the radio, but like i said it worked awesome.
It played the channels using windows media player, and gave a full channel listing, where as xm i think was only a handfull of channels

I am going to have to call your bluf as well. Seems like to much to believe, plus with all the splitting of files in 15 minute chuncks then uploading, i would imagine you would be missing lare chuncks of the show while this was taking place, either way i dont believe it,

Mp3s over the iphone safari browser work. After reading this I set it up on our company website and it works! I'm just looking for some other content out on the web that could work too.

unless sirius goes out of its way to make a special media player with the iphone/safari, i doubt it would be possible.

sirius on my iphone would make me the happiest person in the world. being able to listen to Howard anywhere and everywhere would be the best.

OT - would the radio be able to stream live over EDGE or is it too slow?

I am sorry if you don't believe me. It is really quite simple.

1. I have my Sirius radio hooked up to the audio in port on my Mac.

2. I use a program called Audio Hijack Pro. It takes the audio going into my Mac and records it to mp3s. It does cut it into 15 minute chunks, but that is my choice. I could have it be 10 minute chunks, 1 hour chunks or 5 hour chunks. It really doesn't matter.

3. Audio Hijack Pro is set to record at 24kbs. The directory it saves the files into is being served as a website by my home computer.

4. Safari on the iPhone plays mp3s. Edge is fast enough so that at 24kbps as soon as Safari starts the download quicktime can start playing the audio and the download stays ahead of the playback.

The only real drawback to this is that while Edge is being used the iPhone can't receive a phone call. But that is one reason I chose to do 15 minute chunks so that each download ends fairly quickly and the iPhone can take calls again.

Waiting for the flash player is not the solution for streaming XM or Sirius, or most webstreams, with your iPhone.

In most cases the flash is just the player controls, and the audio steam is actually WMA or Real or something embedded in to the flash code.

Use firefox on a mac with flip4mac and go to xm or sirius or ifilm or whatever. You can see that the stream is actually being played in the QT flip4mac WMA player, inside of the flash structure.

You can tell it is the QT plug-in.

I guess IE on windows does a better job of disguising the player.

Flash can stream audio using a Flashcom server, but it is not one of the most preferred methods.

None of the big web audio streamers stream via Flashcom.

We will need to wait for something like flip4mac4iphone to play WMA streams in QT on our iPhones.

Since iTunes on the Mac opens mp3 streams meant for winamp (shoutcast), maybe streaming mp3's will be the first solution for live audio on the iPhone.

Well after reading a couple of other posts on this topic I can now hear Howard Stern live on my iphone!

You need the following:

1) http://www.millardsoftware.com/usirius (this runs on your local PC and connects over the internet to Sirius using your Sirius account).

The setup is pretty straight forward - just enter your Sirius account info and it will do everything else. Click on URLs to get the URLs for each Sirius channel you want.

2) Sign up with http://orb.com/ and install the local client on the same PC that you installed uSirius.

3) Set up Internet Radio Favorites on mycast.orb.com (cut/paste the URLs from usirius for Howard 100, 101) for each Sirius channel you want.

4) Login to mycast.orb.com from Safari on your iphone and select the favorite that you created. Listen away!

It works well over Wifi. However, I have to wait to go back to the states to see how well it will work over Edge on ATT as it's too expensive to use on Rogers, currently

Note there seems to be a bug, on the first connect from Safari, it will crash, just try again and it will stream quite well for a long time.

OH BTW live365 Internet channels also work in the same manner (Get the URL from itunes get info after trying on your PC). Iphone also works well as a remote control for my SqueezeBox.

A CAPTCHA is a type of challenge-response test used in computing to determine whether the user is human. "CAPTCHA" is an acronym for "Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart".

Or in other words....

The letters and numbers you have to type to log in to a bunch sites.

i dont know if it has a catpha thingy but it works just fine. usirius access the radio channel for sirius via your user name and password from sirius. then you take the url from usirius and paste it in the internet radio favorites in orb. you have you have your computer on and usirius running to stream the music, but you can stream it anywhere in the world. you guys couold even use my sirius stream to listen to howard, you wont need your own account. just download mycast.orb.com and ill give you the link to post in your internet favorites so you can see for yourself.

I followed the instructions and now I have streaming Sirius channels. Very nice!!

I did not have a single problem. But you are correct that there is a bug that causes a crash when you first start streaming. From then on it is GREAT.

Ok i have it all working...well not really...

I have Usirius working and running
I have Orb running
I have created a customs internet radio link and pasted the http URl like:

now when i go to my iphone log in and click on my made Howard 100 link it plays a 1 second quicktime and that is it.. I do see the request coming into the usirius server and the server running, but after the 1 second thats it, nothing...Now i can stream one of the ORb stations just fine (BBC)

any ideas what i have missed?

Sounds like you got it working. It sometimes freezes. Try clearing safaris history cache and cookies. Restart the phone and then try again. That should work

My urls didn't start with HTTP://....they started with mms://.....are you looking at the wrong place?

hhaaa...you're right there are two urls tabs...i read you needed to enter the http one...just changed it and im streaming....its really loud and crystal clear!

Tried this over edge last night and its sketchy at best, maybe need to downgrade to low bandwidth? anyone tried that? Wifi works really well.

Well i ran this over edge from my office all morning, so far with no interruption so edge seem to be fine. I pressed play and then pressed pause, waited 20 seconds and then play again and have not had it lose stream in 2.5 hours. listened to btls.

Is Usirius only for MAC? I am trying to run it on Vista laptop and I am getting an error saying unable to login.
I know i have the right account information because i have just tested it using the sirius player and it is working fine.
Also how are you guys bypassing the validation image that needs to be typed in?
I really dont see how you have this working, i have tried numerous times and i am not having any luck. I am 100% positive i have the right account info, so the only thing i can think of, is that its waiting for the validation image

Why are you guys fooling around? there is no way this works!! I just created a new user name and password for Sirius, I then logged into Sirius player and Howard Stern Player, and my account worked perfectly,

Now I go to usirius and i am getting the same error when trying to log in

Because there really is no way you could log in with out putting in the valadation image sirius requests to prevent people from using mass password apps to cycle through every word in the dictionary to login

Because there really is no way you could log in with out putting in the valadation image sirius requests to prevent people from using mass password apps to cycle through every word in the dictionary to login

Try logging in with your Sirius account log in info. Not the streaming log-in info that requires the CAPTCHA.

I am not able to listen, i have setup three different accounts so its not a user name problem, i just dont see how this can work, to be honest i thinnk there are some people who are just fooling around with us, but hey you never know.

That will bring you to 'My Account'. If you havent already, you the need to sign up for Internet radio (button on left/bottom of window of says 'Add Sirius Internet Radio')

Once you go through this process (get the free one dont do the pay one) then you will have to provide a NEW user name and password just for SIRIUS internet Radio.

Now, if you already signed up then info (user name) will show on the bottom of the 'My Account' page.

How is it that I got XM working and not Sirius?

I used my brothers XM account and got it running on my Iphone with this process and using UXM.

I REALLY want to get Siruis working through cause I have grown to love it better then XM and want to listen to Howard Stern.

There needs to be a way to get this to work or a fix for this problem some of us are having.

I have been looking around to see what is going on for you sirius guys and I found a couple of things to try.

Make sure your user name and password do not have any @!@#$!$%^
just letters and numbers.

Also the developer posted at roku that if you are having log in problems do this:

If you do decide to do it and then notice it not working correctly, shut down uSirius and delete the

C:\Documents and Settings\<your login>\Application Data\uSirius directory.

When you restart uSirius, you'll have to re-enter all your settings, but it should work.

I tired to get it set-up in parallels but the network adapter gets an strange IP that I can not NAT to from my router.

Might work in bootcamp. You jsut have to remember to boot in to windows before you leave the house.

I am still wondering if there is a huge difference in how UXM was written compared to Usirius. I have got UXM running on my Iphone but I really want to get Usirius running.

Other then that I would hope there would be another release soon with a fix for all of us having this problem.

Been lurking on these forums for the last month or so and this by far has got to be the best thing about the iphone! I too had problems earlier with getting Sirius to work, but I just got the release 4 and set it up...Howard Stern is now streaming...how sweet is that. Thanks all for all the help!

yes, on your computer go to the orb website and go to the area that shows your sirius channels. Click on one that you want to assign a picture to and in the bottom part of the screen it will have a smaller thumbnail of that station, it should say "Change Thumbnail" it is straight forward from there on.

Do you have more than one computer??? If so that would be the best solution but if you don't, try the latest version of Parallels, it is quite stable and the performance is very good. I can understand that this is not a perfect solution but until MillardSoftware releases a OS X version this is what you are stuck with.

Mine is still working so it is nothing they did.

Restart Orb and uSirius and see if that helps.

Are you on Vista? Vista does not play MP#'s by default. I guess M$ did not want to pay LAME a licensing fee for each copy of Vista sold. The orb server on your PC sends the stream to orb.com in MP3 format.

I am still getting the unable to log in error. I am in Canada, so i changed the little box to Canada. I am wondering if the log in error is still present for the siriuscanada site?

Can anyone give me any suggestions. I know the user/pass is right, its the same for both my account, and online listening, yet i still get the error.

Are you trying to access a channel URL or a feed URL? If you manually added just a channel to TVersity, you must switch mms:// to rtsp://

Also, make sure your PC has the latest Windows Media Player installed.

Well i Dled and installed the ladest windows media player 2 days ago, so that should not be a problem.

As far as changing the stuff around, i tried both just now and still did not work.

USirius can connect to Sirius, I go into URL's and i copy either a Feed, or just 1 channle.

I then go into Tversity, and click the plus icon, add audio, then add either the podcast/feed, OR audio URL.

Paste in the link.

Go into library click though internet media, play the link, or hte feed. it tried to load but gets timed out. (and Usirius gives me that error)..

Kind of weird. Tversity is connecting to usirius, as it says incoming connection, but then for some reason it cant pull the music out of usirius?

Take a uSirius feed URL and paste it into Firefox. Firefox will add it as an RSS feed. Select a channel, and see if it fires up Windows Media Player and starts playing. If that works, you have a TVersity issue.

When I use TVersity, I always have "Always Transcode" and "Other Device" selected in the settings. I then add a uSirius Feed URL as a TVersity Audio Feed URL.

When a UPnP device hits TVersity, it should start playing. uSirius only allows certain media players to access it. Without getting too technical, Windows Media Player should come back actually come back as NSPlayer/9, 10, or 11. Under the covers, I'm pretty sure, TVersity uses the Windows Media Player SDK.

If everything works properly, you'll never see NSPlayer x.xxxxx because that message only displays when there is an error.

Since this is iPhone forum, are you trying to hit TVersity with the iPhone?

But it is pretty complicated. Took me 4 minutes to get both XM and Sirius streaming to my iPhone.

I created the list of streams for all of the channels and just opened the ones that I wanted in notepad, copied and pasted the address into my orb, and changed the http:// to mms://

Now they work! :D

Ok, I got into Usirius just fine and got the mms URL.

I am in ORB and I past the mms url it says file not supported use http,

so I used the HTTP url from usirius and it says unknown error 627 on ORB

Ok, I got into Usirius just fine and got the mms URL.

I am in ORB and I past the mms url it says file not supported use http,

so I used the HTTP url from usirius and it says unknown error 627 on ORB

The orb website is seems to be having trouble connecting back to the orb client on your pc (keep it running). It may be the port is blocked in the firewall or you need to mab the port to the IP of the pc in your router.

right click on the orb icon in your tray and choose configue. Go to advanced and use the check button to see if the ports are open.

Ok it says the port is unreachable, I do not have any firewalls enabled...on windows firewall it is showing "off" and I am not really sure how to unblock a port if you could tell me real quick you would be the best!

If you have a network at home you have to tell you router to send any request it gets for orb to the PC that is running orb. It is called port mapping and port forwarding in most devices.

If the pc running orb is plugged directly in the the PC running orb and it is still not working, then it is some type of software blocking the request.

Sirius can be run on the XBOX & I'm sure it's not java.
Is there any way to take the "RunSirius.py" python script & use it in the same way on the iphone? (Using the same idea & "backdoor" access)

This will not work because the Sirius stream is wma (which is why it works on the xbox 360, both are microsoft).

You need orb to convert the streams to mp3. The orb site recognizes you are on an iphone using safari so it converts the stream to mp3 which the iphone can play in quicktime.

You may want to make 2 sets of bookmarks for orb.

Like LucyE when you are on edge and paste in the low band url
LucyW for wifi and bookmark the high band url

I got mine to work but once the Iphone goes into sleep mode, it cuts it off. I do not want to leave the display on the whole time in order to listen. Anybody have any ideas?

im just setting this all up now, and everything is working fine, but when i go onto my favorites on the orb site on my phone and click howard 100 or 101 (those are the only 2 links i have up there) it says download i click download, and it says download complete, but nothing plays, can anyone help me?

ok, I have read now 17 pages of common problems and I'm still stuck.

Here's where I am at so far:
USirius - running fine
I can connect through my desktop computer to USirius.

BUT, on my iphone i can login to ORB, I see the channel (Howard) that I have created. I click on the icon, new web page opens, and it is completely black. any thoughts??

Thanks for the great tutorial! I've been able to get uSirius and ORB running just fine. I can even listen to the Sirius Stream through ORB. I can even access ORB through the iPhone and get to Howard 100 and then to the Quicktime screen. However, when I press play, the audio plays for about 3 seconds, then immediately reverts back to the screen with the "play button". This happens while I'm on my wifi connection. Any thoughts as to what is going on?

Here is where I am at

Orb and USirius 1.0RC7 installed on a Vista Laptop

I can listen to Sirius channels that i have loaded into orb on the laptop.

I previously had my ports blocked, so I did the port forwarding and still I can listen through the laptop just fine.

Whenever I try the iphone, it just gives me a screen with a radio tower and the channel name with no place to press play. Is vista the problem. I have an XP computer I was going to try next, but I really don't want to go through all of this again if that isnt the issue.

I also shut off and turned on the iphone .... and it didn't hep

If I hit the play all button instead of the individual channel, it shows the quicktime logo and then it switches to a play button with a line through it (like a no smoking sign except the cigarrette is the play button)

I'm guessing its just Vista although I'm not a router expert so maybe I just did the port forwarding wrong.
