I'm using Windows XP and everything syncs flawlessly between iTunes, Outlook, and my iPhone ... except for one thing. After I connect my iPhone, iTunes opens up and syncs with the phone, then one minute after the sync is completed there's a beep and my iPhone disappears from iTunes, followed by my device waking up for a few seconds. In order to get my iPhone recognized again I have to remove it and reinsert it into the cradle. Is it normal behaviour for iTunes to disconnect your iPhone like this after it's finished syncing?

I've found that when I use the dock that came with the iPhone, it stays connected

I was having same problem but then I remember someone saying their USB cord was bad so I used my iPod USB cord and synced fine and wasn't booted. Maybe it is only your USB cord that came with the iPhone, it feels somewhat cheaper than the iPod ones.
