Is there an app that lets you send a picture from a windows laptop to the iPhone 3GS and have it show up int he camera roll so you can email it or send it MMS?

I hate using iTunes and I really don't want to load it on my netbook while traveling.

There are lots of apps that use the iPhone is a sort of thumb frive but none of the files that you transfer to the iPhone are actually available to view on the phone.

You could email it to whatever account you have linked to your phone, and then save it to the Camera Roll from the email...

Yea, trying not to have to plug it in and carry the cord.

Won't work when the laptop doesn't have a wi/fi connection.

How about that. I can copy file from the iPhone to the netbook via explorer.....

However.....

You can not copy pictures from your computer TO the iPhone camera roll via usb connection and explorer.

I think you can go online on the phone....find the pic on the web...tap and hold to copy it to the phone.

You guys do a great job at over complicating things and not reading the original posts.

To make this clear.

Lets say I take a pic with my regular camera (for quality or just because)

Then I pop my SD card into the built in reader in my net book.

I want to then transfer that pic to the iPhone so I can send it, via 3G, to Twitter or Blogger or something like that.

I would like to do it without iTunes, and preferably without the USB wire.

We are overcomplicating things...but you want to transfer a picture without internet, usb, or iTunes? I'm done with this crap. Ungrateful to boot.

Yea, pretty simple. I want to transfer a picture TO the phone.

That's all.

I don't want to find a wi/fi spot, upload it from my laptop to a service I have to sign up for and log into. Then log into it again on the iphone, download it to the iphone, then sign into the blogging account from the iphone so I can re-upload the picture.:dft011:wicked_smile

I'm sorry if I sound ungrateful to you...but you are the moron that didn't read the post.

You said....
I think you can go online on the phone....find the pic on the web...tap and hold to copy it to the phone.

Please tell me how my picture magically got on the internet so I could copy it to the phone.

Especially after I said.......
Won't work when the laptop doesn't have a wi/fi connection.

when you have the pic on your computer just email yourself the picture to the email on your iphone then in the email tap the picture and click save. if youre already on the computer it will only take an extra second to send it to yourself.

Once again, please read the prior posts.

For the third time
Won't work when the laptop doesn't have a wi/fi connection.

Nevermind, I finally found a solution.

Posted this on a developer site also, THRCA modified Discover so it can access the camera roll but you have to do it through his GUI that you use....it's a stand alone .exe. He also added automatic conversion for HD .avi files that the digital camera takes so when they are copied over, they get converted to .mp4 for iPhone use and faster uploads to YouTube, TwitVid, etc.

You have to have iTunes installed, but it does not need to be running or set to sync anything. Start Discover, open his program, drag and drop like in explorer. No wi-fi router needed, works like ad-hoc. Quick and easy.

Should be available through Cyndia soon he said.

this.

Go to that site using Safari on your iPhone...hold down on the picture and a screen will pop up asking you if you want to SAVE IMAGE or COPY

EDIT: I suck at fully reading threads before posting...i now see that the OP has an image on his COMPUTER that he/she wants to transfer...and NOT already on the net.

LOL dude....try it.

You can't copy pictures TO the phone. Only FROM the phone. Isn't that already stated in this thread?

Using itunes for syncing is a very smart way and I think there will be a lot of people to agree with me. But if you would like to move to a new process then of course you have some other ways available dear. Search in google for your desired one.

Just thought that using that crappy software was a bit overkill to sync a couple pictures. iTunes is not the best when it comes to plugging your phone into multiple computers. Add the fact that the phone won't sync via bluetooth.:dft007:angry

A windows mobile phone is far easier to do simple tasks like copy a picture to the phone. I like the iPhone for the most part, but there isn't a sane person that can honestly say that it's very flexible for users that are beyond the basics. I mean come on, gotta Jail Break in order to add a text message sound? You can copy a .jpg OFF the phone to the PC but you can't copy one TO the phone? How lame is that?

One of these days they'll make a phone that EVERYBODY likes and does EVERYTHING that EVERYBODY wants and then WE'LL ALL BE BORED. I guess that's why they make so many different phones for people with different needs and different tastes. If you don't like one you can buy another.
