I don't yet have an iPhone because my main internet computer is Win2k. However, I have a laptop with XP but it is not often connected to the internet but can be occasionally. So I guess my question is, when and why, after initial activation, does an iPhone need to sync with a host computer? Is it just to do things like sync with a calender or contacts list (which I don't care about)? I know to load music or videos it needs to be connected which I can do as needed. Other than that can it be away from the mothership for a week or two at a time without missing major functions?
