what BS! My issue is that I have the 3G S, had it since August and it's white. As so many others have reported, I am beginning to see little hairline cracks by a few of the buttons and ports. After it was suggested I see if I could exchange it and go with a black one, which supposedly doesn;t have this issue, Apple (retail) told me, basically, to piss off. One guy said I would have to make an appointment with a "genius" but as he'd never heard of this issue, it was unlikely they'd do anything for me. This damn phone has NEVER been out of a protective case, has never been dropped or even slightly bumped and now this! It's only a couple months old for Chrissakes! I thought that bgy emailing Apple direct I may get better service...

call them. explain the issue and if it turns into an issue maybe google it?

Reminds me of a similar problem with a lot of 3G iPhones. Remember when the top part of the back cracked? Not sure if it was the top or the bottom part.

wooossaaahhhh

relax. Deep breaths. There were problems with this before and they were fixed by Apple. I personally know someone who had the same problem with his phone with the hairline cracks and they swapped his phone out for him. They will not do the different color though, that I know for sure.
IF you do decide to go into an Apple Store my best advice is not to come across as angry or pissed off. I overheard a genius talking with a blue shirt guy and the genius said that they hate when pissed off customers come in for stuff that isn't covered and get more pissed when they tell them they won't replace it. The genius said that they are more receptive to nicer customers cause good customer service goes a long way.
If I were you, state you case like you just did, let them know of the hairline cracks and that it has been in a case and NOT been dropped and they should take care of you.

I had to same problem. Got a new one with no problem and it is doing the same thing. I think it is about 6 wks old and like most here, I don't abuse it. They just aren't made very well. Anyway, I didn't have an app. Just walked in and got it exchanged. You shouldn't have any problems except the new one might not be much better. lol

I strongly recommend making an appointment, it is hassle free.

its a common known defect. they will replace them right away you just have to have an appointment. i had one replaced and the one they gave me didnt work, but i had this one and its held out like a trooper till this past week its getting pretty touchy. i figured i may as well go get it taken care of before it completely quits working on me.

It got replaced tonight though the tech said they aren't suppose to swap them out. He asked to see my phone to make sure there wasn't anything wrong with it. You should have seen the smile he had when he say my lock screen with my apple slider.

Oh, I forgot you are jailbroken! I am surprised you brought your phone in being jailbroken. Since they put up such a fuss about jailbreaking, I would be surprised if they didn't make a note of that...

My best friend is looking for an iPhone. His budget isn't good for buying a 3G from here, maybe just an 8gb iPhone 2G in awesome condition or a 16gb 2G in bad condition here. I know that in the States it's not very expensive but if you can ask about the customs that would be great. I know shipping is easy and cheap, but the customs.. I don't know.

You can get those usb cables replaced online through Apples website aswell they post a new one out to you then they post your old one back to them if you don't have a Apple store near you to take it into.

there are 4 in ohio. these two are actually about an hour away from eachother, but then the other two are 3 and 5 hours away. i think the one in pa is actually closer to me than the one in columbus, ohio.
