Hello All,

I kinda new to this whole iphone thing but i have read and did my research, so here we go i bought an iphone last week and the guy I got it from had a whole bunch of garbage stuff so i decided to do a restore. So i popped open itunes and select the restore option it downloaded 3.1.2 blah blah blah ok so im thinking this is going to go good then itunes gets to a upgrading the firmware part and on the phone the progress bar gets to the very end i mean theres like not even a Millimeter left and it just stays there i have let it sit there for an hour in hope and nothing. After this i decided to restart it and throw it into DFU/Recovery Mode and give it a shot and same thing.. Is this something anyone has encountered? and is there a way to fix it? Thanks. Also i believe it looked like he had stuff on there that would indicated he jailbroke it (Icy/Cydia). Thanks alot

I've had a restore continue to fail during update until I swapped in a genuine Apple sync cable vs. an off brand one. Check the integrity of your cable.
YMMV

I dont think this is good itunes doesnt even show my IMEI or S/N on my other phone i had to restore it did. Mike i also have a new cable and tried on a different comp. any other suggestion. Heres a shot of the phone just stuck it looks full in the image but there a tad bit left to go and i think it may have to do with the imei and s/n being gone.

Try a different USB port. The reason it doesn't show your number is because it can find the info due to the fact that you are freezing in the middle of a restore.

I'm on my third port and 2nd computer starting to think the previous owner messed up the baseband for the modem. Time to call apple.
