I did the iTunes > convert MP3 to AAC - M4a - then M4r
However, I can only see one(1) of the songs on my iPhone 3GS Settings>Ringtone>custom ringtone folder after I drag to the 'ringtones' folder in iTunes. Anybody know how I can resolve this?
Thanks in advance.

Use "iRinger (http://www.iringer.net)" - it's easy and it convert these tones directly into your iTunes -> iPhone!

Ringtones can only be a certain length etc, maybe your songs are just too long. Worth checking out. However, I agree with P, 3rd party solutions are generally easier.

The limit for ringtones is 30 seconds. Sounds like your files are too long.

i can get up to 40 seconds in my ringtones. make sure you delete the aac file out of itunes before you readd it as a ringtone.

Thanks guys! I got this to work via SSH and WinSCP. Just had to find the correct 'Library' directory. Now i'm having problems with SMS ringtones. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't

I used that link to get it to work.. It did work for importing his 6 sms ring tone replacements, but I wasn't able to get all 6 of MY own ringtones. Only a couple. I do have MY OWN on 3,4,5 I believe, but 1,2,6 slots don't have any tones. I can deal with this for now, but I want to know how others have gotten this to work consistently.

Dammit.... I just found that only slots 3,4,5 on SMS tones work. I tested this by importing new tones into those slots and they do work, whereas in slots 1,2,or 6 they do not.
For some odd reason, I cannot get 1, 2, and 6 slot to work. SOMEONE tell me what is the problem?

Actually.. I found the problem, it works flawlessly now. You have to actually shut down the iPhone (hold down the top button) and drag the red button. When rebooted, all works now!

It's easy to get lots of great ringtones on-board - it's harder with the SMS sounds...

I had this trouble before. I checked the youtue and there are several links to teach us how to convert from mp3 to iphone ringtone. That works for me!
You can convert to long ringtone, just cannot play that long when someone call you...
