Hey gang,
Was hoping maybe someone could answer and inquisitive mind regarding my AT&T service.
I am an iPhone 3G user.
Recently I missed a few bills...and my service IS "temporarily suspended".
Cannot make/recieve calls, send/recieve txts, etc. until I re-up.
So I was wondering a few things of course, and while I of course read the "Terms of Service" agreement, contract info, etc. I was wondering if maybe someone else has been in this position before and tried these things:
1) If I DO NOT pay the fee right now...and they go ahead and permanently suspend my account, do I still pay an early termination fee?
Has anyone had success with calling and asking/begging, "I cannot pay my current phone bill, so I cant pay my early termination. Could you just cancel my account?"
2) Say I owe $150 on my phone bill. Early termination is only $175. Do you think I could call and cancel my account with early termination and just pay the $175...or do you think I will have to pay up my past balance AS WELL AS the early termination?
I look forward to people's responses and any other information that you all might have.
Don't get me wrong, I love my iPhone and AT&T has been...well...I'll leave it at decent, but something in my heart is longing to try DROID.
Thanks in advance! :ok:ok

1.) You have to pay both.
2.) You have to pay both.
You shouldn't have to pay the ETF if you bring your account current. That's about it.

if you cant pay your bill and you have been a good payer i think you can call and set up payment arrangements. my friend i think did that and they told her if she didnt honor it they wouldnt make arrangements again for like 3 months or something. i think they require a credit card or debit card right then to automatically do it on the day you say you can pay

How do you not have enough money to pay your AT&T bill but can afford a new DROID phone that is $300 with a $100 mail in rebate? Don't you think Verizon will look at your credit and see your unpaid bills with AT&T?

The ETF is to cover the cost of the subsidized phone. The monthly bills are to cover the cost of your service. AT&T will want money for both services provided. I guess simply neglecting your contracts is a great way to get out of them if you don't give a flying **** about your credit, or integrity for that matter.

You should probably pay up. Any other provider you go to is going to see that on your credit and charge you a huge deposit fee to get service. Either way you WILL pay.

Last year, I didn't pay my bill of almost $300. That's when they suspended my service when the bill got that high. When the new iPhone came out in June, I wanted to finally pay that bill of but now it was over $500. Ok, I figure I'll save up and in a few months I'll pay it. The $500 included ETF charges for two phones.
Since it was that high and my account was suspended, it would have cost that amount PLUS a reconnection fee so it was cheaper at that time to get a new iPhone and new service while I still could.
I called last month to find out again the exact amount and now it's almost $1100. No way I can ever pay that now.
If you are not careful and don't pay it off real soon, yours too will get higher and higher the longer you wait.
I was able to get a new iPhone before it went on my record with AT&T as a non payment and so it doesn't affect me each year when the new iPhone comes out but I can't ever get another account opened until I pay that money.
Again, try and pay it off within a month or two. I wish I had.

As the days go by I am less and less surprised as to why our economy is still in the toilet....
