Hi guys,

I jailbroke my phone no problem months ago. I had the old firmware v. 3.01 i think. I used a program on iphone i think it was called categories and i just had a bunch of apps under different folders to organize.

Yesterday i restored it, then upgraded to the new 3.12 firmware, and now all the apps, including settings, that were previously inside a folder disappeared! the jailbreak is gone but so are essential apps like settings!!!

PLEASE help me!

I re-jailbroke it and installed categries hoping it would change back to what it was, but nothing!

I dont know what to do here!

Yes just restore and when it asks you if you click restore from backup instead of set up as a new phone.

Yes just restore and when it asks you if you click restore from backup instead of set up as a new phone.

Restoring a JB phone you should always restore to new. Restoring to back up can leave traces of the previous JB on the phone which may cause problems.

After a new restore just sync contacts that you saved to your computer. Hopefully you did this before you did a restore.

Users should always "unhide" and "uncategory" apps before restoring. This is one of the traces of a jailbreak that can remain once you restore. The icons stay hidden. Never hide the settings app. A simple toggle (toggle restrictions on and off) from settings could have fixed this and avoided you re-jailbreaking to try and solve it.
