Even MMS is being filtered and controlled.

mine works fine. I got some crazy stuff for Halloween. I'd post screen shots but I might get banned.

I definitely got an X rated text this weekend. I wonder why this one seems censored.

It looks like more of a technical issue than "censorship."

My google search for "MMS Adaptation" gave me several links from which I could infer that file size might also be a factor. Just guessin'

YMMV

im gunna agree with naps. i really dont think they can sit and say this pic can go thru and this one cant. it sounds like maybe it just exceeds the size that can be received.

Notice how quick people are to immediately assign blame to Apple or AT&T?

It must've been a huge file for it to reject it since we can send and receive pretty good size video files.

I know MMS is not sensored. I have had a few glitches but no sensorship at all.

I just posted it seeing as it was the first time i've seen that lol. The message came from a friend on a CDMA network, on a nokia. I didnt get why it either has a file size limit on animated MMS, or standard pictures. I wonder what the limit is, because if the iphone only shoots 3.2mp and someone sends you a MMS from say... a Sony Ericsson that shoots 5 or higher megapixel what will happen?

Will the iphone refuse to show the picture or will it make an attempt to resize? Anyway if it even makes the attempt to resize the message will probably be "adapted" because 8mp file size is larger no? idk.

I thought it was somewhere around 320 kb unless you tweak it to 640 kb

I wonder if its a limit on your friends device / network - and they just push through a standard SMS instead?

Yeah, AT&T has someone sitting in an office viewing every single MMS being sent out. Can you imagine how many that poor person must view in a single second?

Trust me, they don't care what you are sending out. They have better things to do.

Pretty reasonable, Yvil, and way to put it lol! But maybe there is some sort of an automatic way to filter that, I don't know how it's done but maybe by the name of the image? Like if it has a censored word like f***, s***, etc. then it gets filtered?

if they really filtered mms messages the person with that job would probably have some interesting stories...also probably be scarred for life

I got an animated text from my daughters phone, and got the same error. Not sure why, but it's definitely not a censorship issue.

Its somewhat of a hinderance to some. I have a fully capable phone, yet theres a limit to a basic picture message when a RAZR or any normal phone can receive the entire message.

Get er done! (couldnt help myself lol)

I get the feeling the MMS "standard" is a drifting one that not all phones truly comply with at any one point and time, hence the occasional error. However, the iPhone is not sending out 3.2MP pics via MMS nor is it receiving high-MP pics from other phones. The pics are always resized/compressed for delivery.

...and vids are compressed as well before sending if they are too big. :)
