So, I went to the 2012 Movie website and it says I need flash player. So I use the link on the site and I get this...
Flash Player not available for your device
Apple restricts use of technologies required by products like Flash Player. Until Apple eliminates these restrictions, Adobe cannot provide Flash Player for the iPhone or iPod Touch.

That's crazy!
Can I get it from cydia or rock?
So, I can't browse sites that use adobe flash player? Is there an alternate?
Thanks!

No alternate... Just one of those things we have to do without for now, and the foreseeable future. Apple won't allow it because it'll kill app store sales.

Then people could develop flash games for safari, and not have to sell them through the app store, so apple wouldn't get their 30% cut.

this just shows, that after all, apple is only interested in money, arent they making enough money already with the iphone ?, besides, games wouldnt run the same..i think..

Not just games - apps in general.

In addition to that, it's a security risk. I don't think Apple will ever allow it.

I still wonder why Apple and Adobe can't fix a solution for this. In my case - it would "complete" the iPhone experience!
I'm glad Apple don't support flash.
Flash is another development platform - sure, it's easier to program, but it's like Java on a desktop machine - slow. Good programs need to be coded in the native language for the machine or as close as you can get, ie. using Apple's API.
Using Flash is like using Java as a development platform - the programs will work, but they'll never be as fast as properly coded equivalents.
And a lot of flash apps require mouse-over events - which doesn't work for touch screens.

I agree. I think its for security reasons as much as restricting games.
Plus, Flash sucks. I'm not interested in the games or another round of tip-calculator style apps.
Frankly, I wish Apple would crack down on the 59p/99c apps which aren't even worth being free, let alone a cent. *looks at the thousands of battery, torch and tip calculator apps with utter disgust*

People tend to ignore the fact that Flash would depleet the battery very quickly, unless it were highly optimized, and even then...

Not to mention it's a resource hog! Much like the rest of Adobe's line of products.

Ask yourself - "can you live without" all these great flash websites when surfing around the web in Safari?

That's a dangerous question. Are you qualified to respond if someone answers no? :dft012:wink

That's a dangerous question. Are you qualified to respond if someone answers no? :dft012:wink:dft010:smiling...yes it's a dangerous topic! But I'm just asking because "most" of the great sites today got lots of flash content - the question is: can you live without these sites...I can't!

The iPhone has gone a long way towards eliminating the need for Flash on the internet simply because more and more websites are catering to a Flashless, Webkit browser like iPhone Safari. I say let the trend continue and let Flash be marginalized as the slow, bloated add-on that it is. Why does it need so much power to do the things it does? Ridiculous...

Amen to that.

You got a point there Dave, but isn't it the wrong way!? The internet connection are getting faster and faster around the globe, - but I don't say flash is a must...personally I don't like the over-gained flash sites, but for these flash sites with great content - that's another story..:dft012:wink
I'll guess I say amen!

But the content is deliverable without Flash... web developers have just gotten lazy. Standards come and go, and Flash is really due for an overhaul. I'm just wishing this stalemate with Apple is enough to kick Adobe in the butt and make it happen.
