View Full Version : How do you get iphone vids to Movie Maker?

My wife has a bunch of videos on her 3Gs but can't seem to get them into Windows Movie Maker for editing.

Can you help her (us) out?

Movie maker doesn't support the video format iPhone records in. I suppose you could try using something like handbrake to transcode the video into .avi, which moviemaker should handle.

In any case, it's not going to be simple.

So I guess you just have to use the editor on the phone huh?

Well... Cant you jsut record everything raw, dont edit it at all and just SSH the movie out of the iphone? Im going to assume its .mp4 encoded. You can then proceed to edit the video on the computer. If its not .mp4 then SSH it out, convert it to a format of choice and then edit.

Try it out and let me know. I dont own an 3gs.

Anything i record with cycorder, i SSH right out, and edit.

Again, Moviemaker does not support the video format iPhone records in. There is no "raw" video format.

SSHing is unnecessary. You'll end up with the same video whether you ssh or just sync with iTunes.

You either have to find a different video editing application, or convert the video to something that moviemaker supports (like avi), which you can so with handbrake.

So I should be able to import the video from iTunes into Handbrake then? Or is there another method?
