Why is it that a page will start downloading and then all of a sudden the checkerboard screen will show for a brief second and then the page will come back on. Seems to be a bit slower as well - page to page Internet.

Anyone ever notice the checkerboard coming on when browsing?

Thanks for the help!

Are you using a 3G?

Yes, that is on the 3G network with good signal strength. Phone is a 3GS.

I've never noticed the checkerboard on my jailbroken 3GS after the page has fully loaded.

Can anyone show me what the Checkerboard looks like? Lmao. Never had that before, I think.

Seriously? Hmmm...
Ok...

Load a page and when it starts, scroll to the bottom. You will see it for sure then.

What I mean is, when it starts loading - without doing a thing - the creen turns to this checkerboard for a moment before the page has completed loading. Never seen this before. Not as smooth as it used to be?

Not sure what else to say...

It's the portion of the web page which hasn't yet been rendered. To save processing time and memory, the phone renders what you're looking at and a little bit more - often the whole page. But on large pages or slow connections, it's easy to scroll quickly and overtake the rendering process to see the parts that the phone hasn't drawn or downloaded yet.

Despite having a beefy processor and more memory than most PCs 10 years ago, mobile processors are still nowhere near the same level as a desktop. They have much less functions and a strict power diet.
