2nd White 3GS being replaced

Im going into Apple in a few hours to have my 2nd 3GS replaced because of cracks around the speaker, headphone socket and the 2 screws at the bottom. Im so sick of this happening now, I know it may also happen on the black phones and people may not notice but doesnt make me feel any better.

The 1st time they said no - this time im going to push even harder for it. I love the colour white. Even my car is white, but I cant handle seeing these cracks grow!

ive heard a lot of people had issues with this cracking thing. makes me not want a white one. thats what i planned on getting when i upgraded...maybe not anymore

That sucks big time. I had the 3G in black but decided to go white on the 3Gs despite the problems the white 3G had. So far I have seen nothing in the way of cracks. (fingers crossed)

I did the same, Black 3G > White 3GS. I must have just been that unlucky.

I have a black 3GS and I'm on my second one - same issue - cracks (very small but still) around the charging port and speakers.

Just got it swapped, the genius guy was being a little d*** though. He told me I should log an issue with customer relations, as they wont swap it again if this happens.

I told him in no uncertain terms that if it starts to crack again, it will be replaced - its that simple.

However, did you know that if you get a replacement iPhone, you dont get a 12 month guarantee with it. Your guarantee begins when you get your iphone and finishes 12 months after that, regardless of any replacements.

I was always under the impression that if you received a new item, it came with a 12 month guarantee?

nope thats how it is. i received a replacement 2 weeks before my warrenty was up. i have a brandnew phone with no warrenty

I didn't know that either until my cracked 3GS was replaced. Since there's no Apple stores near me though they gave me a discounted rate on Apple Care to extended the warranty - pretty nice of them I thought.

What exactly is cracking ? I looked around the headphone jack and speakers on my white 32GB 3GS and I have not noticed anything? What should I look for is this something that happens over time?
