IPhone widget development.

Hi,

I have been using the iPhone SDk to develop small applications.
I have some questions regarding widget developement:

1. Can we develop widgets(not Apps) for iPhone?
2. Is there any seperate SDK (from/Not from Apple) to develop widgets?
3. Can I port some of my widgets used in MAC machines directly to iPhone
without getting it from App strore?
4. Since some of the widgets are available in App Store,are they third
party applications?

2) The only way to develop for the iPhone is with the SDK (Xcode, etc)
3) No but you can load apps to your own phone for development purposes
4) What?

Widgets (http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/) are a type of OSX application for dashboard (http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/). Apps are Applications for the iphone (http://www.apple.com/iphone/apps-for-iphone/).
