hi there hope someone can help me here
i recently bought iphone 2g off ebay everything fine until i updated through itunes it now tells me the sim card inserted does not seem to be supported .... i seem to be locked out of my phone only emergency calls allowed is there a fix for this the sim card that is in is a O2 sim pay and go .

Where did you buy the phone from (obviously ebay.), from the UK or from another country?

If you've got it from another country, it wont work as you've just updated the baseband.

Did it come with an application called Cydia?

Try restoring your phone again and see how you get on. If not, you may have to get down to your local o2 store and get an iPhone pay as you go sim card. You will have to port your current number over to the new sim card (takes a few hours) but you will be fine.

I can't remember off the top of my head the price of the sim cards, they aren't expensive. Before you buy, have a word with the o2 staff, I can't understand why your sim wont work. Just try another restore and see what happens.

itunes wont allow me too try agian :( guess ill have to wait till tomorrow for O2 shop .

What do you mean it wont allow you to restore?

hi, its say in itunes at start after finding the phone THE SIM CARD IN THIS PHONE DOES NOTAPPEAR TO BE SUPPORTED only compatable sim cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate iphone please insert sim card that came with the phone or visit a supported carrier .

going to the O2 shop today.

Hey John, I tried jailbreaking my iPhone 3GS (32GB) using Blackra1n unfortunately it's not working on my Tiger 10.4.11 so I resorted using Pwnage. The Jailbreak is a breeze but my phone can't detect my Network?

Any suggestion on I can go around to finally have my iPhone 3GS jailbroken?
For info; my 32 GB iPhone 3GS is officially unlocked having bought it through Apple Store Online in Hongkong therefore I can use any SIM Card.

Aaah. I sort of thought it may have been a foreign one.

When you updated your phone, you've updated the baseband. Therefore you cannot unlock the phone, you currently have an unlockable phone. Given time, you may be able to unlock it again, you/we have to wait for the dev's to find an exploit. Until this time, your phone will not work on British carrier.

Not sure how it would work with a UK SIM card and all, but I had some luck unlocking my (US) 2G iPhone yesterday, even though it had been upgraded to the latest firmware and baseband.

Here's what I did:

Only difference is that I used redsn0w version 0.8 and I also had an old AT&T SIM.

Maybe this will work for ya?

and maybe use this or one of the many other programs that are on offer :)
apple did not want to know anything about this nor would they give any advice shame .
so ill have to wait for said sim card then move from there :)

Of course it will work, a brand spanking new unlock has come out. This is what you needed to happen.
