Instead of posting the same picture in anymore threads I found a solution for you!

Can I block posts, emails and messages from specific users?
If there are particular members that bother you and you do not want to see their posts or receive Private Messages and Emails from them, then you can add these members to your 'Ignore List'. There are several ways to do this:
Through your User Control Panel: User CP (http://www.everythingicafe.com/forum/usercp.php), Settings & Options, Edit Ignore List (http://www.everythingicafe.com/forum/profile.php?do=ignorelist). Then, type their name into the empty text box and click 'Okay'.

How about I just tell Computerfox in my own way that I feel he is posting excessively? Some other users have "beat around the bush" with him, but I feel like being more direct. I am not going to block Computerfox because I don't feel he has been intolerable. I just wanted to tell him with a funny picture to slow down a bit. I like Computerfox so he will not be blocked.

Thanks for your thoughtful advice though.

Yeah but posting it in like 4 threads and then dedicating a thread to it is a bit excessive dont you think?

The Apple
10-28-2009, 09:19 AM
If I posted this 4 times a day for every day of October I would have a post count of 124 posts. Which would you consider more excessive 124 or >700?

Ive been here for roughly 2 or so months and I have 600...whats your point?

juls my post to Computerfox has apparently rubbed YOU the wrong way. I hereby apologize to you for rubbing you the wrong way. I also hereby officially renounce this post. It is official.

I wish I could keep the BS threads from the OT forum out of the new posts feed. But such is life.

I just kept seeing it in threads and felt that it was kind of an attack against him. Im sure you meant no harm on it, but still once would have been enough to be funny.

Sorry I just kinda felt bad.

Look, the badges/ranks are misleading. By reaching 1,000 posts, you (especially new user's looking for advice on their iPhone) assume that person knows what they're talking about and has been engaged and extremely helpful in lots of posts. When an extremely large majority of your posts come from the "Off-Topic" forums well before you reach Genius, the title is terribly misleading and is insulting for those who offered valuable help over the course of their stay. If it were me, I'd have this system set up so the moderators/community would give you the Genius status. Maybe it could be based off how many times you've been "Thanked" or something. It should be about the quality of your posts, not the quantity, which I think what is happening here...

It just kind of irritates me that I've been here for 1.5 years (and I lurked but hadn't registered well before that) and I felt accomplished when I reached Genius and it took me a while! It doesn't seem to be taken seriously anymore...

i don't really think it matters how much anyone posts, as long as they aren't doing anything to offend or personally attack someone-let them have their fun. If their posting gets a little excessive to you, then you can always ignore them.

You are right though Kaba, the badges are a little misleading. There should definitely be a post whore badge. really the genius one is the only one that's misleading. Enthusiast, zealot, etc., aren't bad.

You're right but to achieve the highest badge on the forum all you need to do is post a lot. That's nonsense. I'll agree, keep the other four badges how they are and once the community/moderators feel you've been a significant contributor to the forum, you get your Genius badge.

That's how I'd do it, anyway.

I like that idea...or go by thanks. You get your genius badge by hitting 100 thanks or 200 or whatever!

Everyone contributes around here! Im first to admit Im still learning. Ive learned so much from everyone here about the phone and how to help others.

Of the forums online Ive found this one the most interactive, fun and welcoming. You guys are basically awesome.

This thread is bull****.

Stop nitpick hating because he posts often and is active. I enjoy a new face that shows up especially one that sticks around and posts quickly.

Some people complained when there was no new people around here/old people coming back etc and now there is one and you guys want to shun him already?

Fox, keep posting. Its nice to see someone as active as you.

Cat picture ftw.

Iv'e been a member for a bit over 2 years... I joined when I bought my V1. I had not posted to much in the past, but have been posting more now that I bought my 3Gs and am getting into the jailbreak and SSH arena. In the spirit of the community as I learn new things, I try to pass that knowledge onto other members.

Funny thing is that I hardly ever look at post count when reading a reply to an inquiry that I have made. To me, if the person replying gives me the help I need or points me in the right direction to find answers that's what matters most, regardless of their number of posts.

:011:evillaugh:005:snicker I think the post count for each rating should b increased.

It should take around 5grand posts to earn Genius. That way everyone knows you've been here quite some time, active, and helpful etc.

There's never a need to call out another member in a thread like this. Take it to PM or just use the ignore feature.
