need help

i just bought a 3g iphone off craigslist. the phone has been unlocked and jailbroken running on 2.2.1. i can make calls and send text messages but can't receive any. when people try calling, it'll ring once then have the busy tone and said call was rejected. i will get the missed call on my phone but no rings or vibration. i can't receive any of my text messages either. but i can send them with no problem. my call fowarding is off and my airplane mode is off. any help would greatly be appreciated. thanks.

so i called the guy i bought the iphone from today. he told me he never had that problem. and he said it's because i don't have a data plan for it, which i don't. but can that really be the cause?

i would say try upgrading to at least 3.0 :ok:ok

Update to the latest firmware and then try updating carrier settings too (I dont think its bundled)

Then try resetting all network settings.
