I have a pretty extensive database of music, but I cant seem to figure out how to sync it to my iPhone 3GS. I did not buy this music from iTunes. Can it still be done and how? When I try to drag the song and drop it onto my iPhone it wont allow it.
Sorry if this is a basic question, but this is my first Apple product ever : )

Just open your music folder and drag and drop the song in the playlist of your choice. The song will be in the playlist and also go to the music folder (library). You can make your own playlists by clicking the plus sign at the bottom left, or use the standard ones listed on the left.
Be aware if you have the music on an external drive it will need to plugged in when you sync. iTunes has to "see" the music files on your HD even though they are in the library.
Go to Edit>Preferences>Advanced and make sure "Copy files to iTunes Music folder" is checked.

Do you have your music collection in iTunes?
If not you should import everything into iTunes, then drag it into your iPhone. If it's just in folders and you try to drag into your iPhone it won't work.
