I am able to upgrade my 3G 8gb iPhone in a few weeks and I was thinking about upgrading to the 3GS 16gb iPhone. I am JB and have pretty much what the 3GS has except the gb space and the speed. I wasn't going to do it and just wait until next summer for the new one but after using my friend's 3GS and seeing how much FASTER it is that my phone I am having second thoughts. I mean, it's kinda ridiculous how much faster the 3GS is than the 3G. Plus I would love the extra gb space. Any 3GS owners feel like swaying me one way or the other? :dft012:wink

I have to disagree. I think the 3GS is significantly faster particularly if you are into jailbreaking. Most people offset the cost of a new phone by selling the old. The market is always good to sell when new versions come out.

Yeah, my friend's was JB'n with blackra1n and the difference in how fast cydia, installous, and just all the apps open and load up overall was crazy. I know that there will be another one in July but I think I would rather have the 3GS now because my 8gb is pretty full. Less than 2gb available.

I have the 32 gig but rarely go over the 16 and I keep 10-15 movies on it at all times. If you JB and unlock your 3G you should be able to get 300-500 for it. But I haven't checked lately so do a search on ebay to verify.

No offense but anything is faster than the 2g. Going from the 2g to the 3g was amazing. But now that my phone is pretty much full and JB it's running a little slow. My friends was so much faster than mine in comparison.

There is a new blackra1n out fixing some problems especially for the 3g. Have you tried that yet?

i was in he same position as you are in.... I have a 16GB 3G and just recently upgraded to the 32GB 3Gs..... For me the increase in Ram was the biggest asset. With my 3G games like Rise of Nations and The Sims would bog down and sometimes crash on my 3G and that lag got worse once I jailbroke. With my 3Gs, there is no lag and so far no in game crashes, even after jailbraking.


If your worried about the newer 3Gs phones, purchase from AT&T and ask if they have any left over from older shipments. I'll bet Apple is stocking their stores before AT&T stores.

Also, in my opinion, if your going to get the 3Gs, go for the 32GB, its a better investment especially for resale in the future. You should be able to sell your 3G and cover the cost of the new 32GB 3Gs...

With the new Blackra1n, you can JB the 3GS with the new bootrom. I just upgraded mine and LOVE it.

Much quicker and more space were the selling points for me.

Well, unless they've come up with ANOTHER new bootrom, then it shouldn't be an issue. I've got the new "unbreakable" bootrom on my 3GS and the new Blackra1n will jailbreak it. It's a tethered jailbreak, but it's a jailbreak nonetheless.

** Tethered JB = if you completely power off your phone, or the battery runs out you need to hook it up and re-run Blackra1n to get it to boot up. Takes about 20 seconds or so, but it works.

That was the same situation as I was in.... The 3Gs is a very nice upgrade. The native video is cool and the double Ram solves the lag....

They actually did multi-tasking really well. All they need to do is implement a Backgrounder type application. It really doesn't take a toll on my battery and I have a few applications I always have Backgrounder enabled on. I really don't see how it would be an issue for Apple to implement it.

Anyway, I have a White 3G right now and would like a White 32gb but I'll take a Black if that's all I can find. And no, I'm not racist.

I have a case on my phone but it doesn't cover the screen at all or extend over the screen so it really doesn't make the phone any bulkier, which I love. It also has a soft matte so it has more grip to it. If I use it with the white one I am sure it will cover most of the white.

How is the screen for the 3gs? I hear it is supposed to show less finger prints and smears from your face. Any truth to that?

The new screen does stay cleaner and is easier to clean however; I've had a screen protector on since about day 5 because some people were complaining about scratches on the screen and then others were saying that the coating was coming off. I haven't heard anything in a while so who knows.

I didn't have time to read the entire thread, but this phone is much faster than I had initially expected. The speed makes multi-tasking on the iPhone a breeze. As for speed of the apps on you are using them, it is pretty well documented that 3GS is faster.

My only concern is I have tethering on mine cause I still have 3.0.1 and BB 4.26 and it comes in handy sometimes. I don't want to loose that and I be leave I will.

Well went down today to get it (3GS). I was goin to use my daughters upgrade to get it. She has a BB pearl but has no data plan for it. If I used her plan to get it they would start charging me for a BB data plan after words. Seems as though if you have a BB now w/o a data plan they will charge you $30 automatically for it.
I have tried to get her to get another phone but she just doesn't want to get rid of her BB. I have to say though, for her it is a good phone. It has taken a lot of abuse and keeps ticking. LOL!!!

Not sure how that works exactly but don't assume that it will just kick in. That's how you end up having a scary bill. If you due swap out the phone just ask them, it's the same price as the iphone data.

Yep I know. I told them I was goin to use her line to get one and all would have been good accept she has a BB. And with signing a new contract to get the iphone they would have put her BB back on and then would have had to put her on a BB data plan. It's something that started on 9-1-09. Basically unless you are grandfathered in on an old contract you have to have a data plan for it now. It sucks but what can you do.

6 Days is a long auction... It has been my experience that you will not see big movement on electronics until the end date comes nearer. Do not be shocked if you get low bids until the last day. I usually use 3 day auctions.

Wow, yeah I agree. A 6-day auction is a bit long. But that's up to you. In regards to the reserve, that's the game of chance you'll play. I don't think people will mind it once the auction is coming to a close. I'd leave it. You can always re-list or try Craigslist if it's not met.

Sell it as unlocked but put in the notes that you can also give it to them stock if they want. Unlock will raise the price and they can email you if they want it stock restored.

Oh yeah man! No lag going from app to app, no waiting 3 seconds for n app to come up, speedy safari, serious memory, video, auto focus, what's not to like?

I put all of my music on here (20.1gb), The Dark Knight movie, all my apps, everything else and still have 6gb to work with. So nice! I am still shocked at how much faster the 3G and wifi is on this phone. Even Cydia runs so much smoother and faster. Syncing to the computer seems to be much faster. Took about 30 minutes to sync 20gb of music. I love it so far!

Good luck with it Krunk....... The Ram and Spped boost were enough for me to jump to the 3Gs......absolutely no lag, even when JBed....

The most surprising to me though is how much faster the ineternet is, both wifi and 3g, and the battery life. The 3gs' battery life is impressive compared to my 3g. I have this thing filled to 26gb and it's still super fast. That [S] ain't messin around!

There are a lot more pluses than this but gotta get back to work.

Yeah, I sold the 3g on ebay and got the 3gs 32gb from at&t. I knew I had to get below 940 on the bootrom and I knew at&t wouldn't care if I asked them for one specific to that. I got the phone for $299 so it was a fully subsidized upgrade.

One more thing that I noticed I do with this phone is that I look away when opening an app. I look away because I used to do this with the 3g and it took a few seconds for the app to come up. So I would look away at whatever else I was doing, tv, conversation, work, etc. I have to remember that I no longer have to do that with this phone because the apps are uo and running a split second after touching.

Maybe Tatum and Caucasian should get together and share battery stories with each other. My battery is amazing right now. Maybe it's because my 3G battery was such crap! Had to plug that sucker in twice a day. On a serious note though, I would say return that sucker before the 30 days are up. Could be a faulty battery. Just an idea.

Correct. Simply unchecking it in Winterboard will re-enable the user's Wallpaper as selected in Settings...

diver, try respringing or rebooting after you unapply the theme in Winterboard.

It does. Just ensuring he was aware the respring was occurring. Also I suggested a reboot. Sometimes that may fix it.

Don't forget that it will take priority, what ever you checked off, if you move it to the top of WB. Try that if it doesn't work by simply checking it off.
